Safe, Reliable and Versatile

Have the right ladder for the job every time with the Velocity multi-use ladder from Little Giant. This professional-grade ladder system features a convertible design that allows it to be used in up to 33 unique configurations (Model 22). The aluminum construction and dual-pin hinge offer stability, while the Rock Locks make it easy to adjust the length. The Velocity is up to 20 percent lighter than the leading competitor, but has a 300-pound rating and is available in three different models that offer 16, 24, and 33 unique configurations.

Use the Ladder Five Different Ways

Thanks to its patented, convertible design, Little Giant's Velocity ladder system can be used as an A-Frame ladder, an extension ladder, and a staircase ladder, as well as to form a trestle-and-plank scaffolding system with Velocity Trestle Brackets (sold separately).

Safety and Comfort

The Velocity has wider rungs than comparable multi-use ladders. The wide rungs reduce fatigue and foot pain and increase your stability and balance while working on the ladder. For added safety, deep treads increase traction while climbing. For optimal safety and stability, the Velocity features wide-flared legs.

Rock Lock system for Fast Adjustments

The Rock Lock system allows easy adjustments to the length and configuration of the ladder much more quickly and with less effort than other multi-use ladder systems. Simply push the lock to release it, adjust the ladder, then tap it to relock.

Tip & Glide Wheels

Easily transport the Velocity using Tip & Glide Wheels. Rather than carrying the ladder from storage, to the job, and back again, simply wheel it from place to place.

Staircase

Use the Velocity in places ordinary stepladders could never go: on the stairs, over obstacles, and on uneven ground.

Extension

Dual-Pin hinges ensure maximum extension stability. The Velocity Model 22 reaches a full 19 feet, giving you access to vaulted ceilings, second story roof lines, gutters, and other hard-to-reach areas.

90 Degree

Stay close to the work at hand with the 90-degree position.

A Frame

With a slim 9-inch profile, the Velocity conveniently stores out of the way when not in use.

Customer Reviews

It is sturdy, easy to use and very versatile.

Wheels help, but still a little heavy for me to move very much.

OK, so here’s the good, the bad, and the ugly on this ladder. The Velocity Multi-use Ladder, by Little Giant, is a nice ladder. It is delivered to you assembled and is fairly compact when not in use – a little under 6 feet – which I find remarkable. It is heavy, but not cumbersome. Some people have complained that this ladder is too heavy. If you have it in its storage position/height, and compare it to a 6 or 8 foot step ladder, well yes, this is very heavy. But keep in mind it is really a multi-use and opens up a great deal. So, overall, this is not a heavy ladder at about 39 pounds. It does have two wheels on one side so it can be rolled around rather than carried, for the most part.

As far as capacity, the Velocity meets the 300 pound IA rating, and feels sturdy when you are on it (I am a man, about 220 pounds). The ladder is about 27 ½” at the base, which helps steady it. The feet have a plastic surround and rubber grips on them, so the ladder tends to stay put. Like many ladders, most of the rungs are narrow, except where the inner and outer ladders line up during A-frame use.

This ladder is advertised as a 22 foot ladder. Keep in mind how manufacturers measure ladders: while this says it is 22 feet, it is actually about 19 feet tip to tip. You will find the same of a Werner or other maker’s multi-use ladders.

As far as the uses. This ladder may be used five ways:
1. A Frame Step ladder.
2. Staircase ladder (adjust leg heights on each side to different heights.
3. 90 degree ladder, so you can move closer to a wall as you ascend the ladder.
4. Extension ladder.
5. Scaffolding (NOTE: Little Giant should not advertise this ladder as ready to use 5 ways.

I live in a two-story house with cathedral ceilings, and we use ladders a lot. Prior to owning this ladder, we had a 30-foot extension ladder for working outside, and an 8-foot stepladder to use indoors. Even with two ladders, we've often struggled to find a way to paint the walls in the rooms with cathedral ceilings, especially in the areas with stairs. I was really hopeful that this ladder from Little Giant would let us do it all.

My husband and I have used this ladder a couple of times, and there are a few things we absolutely love about it. First, it's very easy to get in and out of the house and to move from one place to another. It has wheels on one end so that you can roll it, and because it's lightweight and folds up so compactly, it's easy to carry, even for very short and slight people like me.

Anyway, as a stepladder, this ladder is unquestionably fantastic. In the classic stepladder configuration, it's got a height comparable to a standard 10-foot stepladder, but with an extremely wide base that makes it so much more sturdy than that of a traditional ladder. I also love the ability to configure the ladder to a 90 degree ladder, which lets you get closer to what you're working on without having to turn sideways, and being able to adjust the two sides of the ladder differently so that it can be used on stairs. Yes, it takes some work to get the ladder from one configuration to another, but like anything else, it gets easier and faster to do with practice.

Though this is definitely the best, most versatile stepladder we've ever owned, using it in its extension form has been a bit more problematic. It's easy enough to get the ladder into its full 22-length configuration, but it's just so hard to raise that entire length up into its position...

Little Giant Velocity 22 Foot Ladder

This ladder meets standards for the IA rating or 300 pounds. Although this was advertised as a 22-foot model, fully extended it only measures 19 feet and a few inches! If you read the website description and the side of the ladder, it is listed as 19 feet. It was also advertised as 1 ladder performing the function of 5 ladders/devices, it really just serves 2 main functions out of the box: an A-frame/step ladder that is adjustable, and an extension ladder. My Velocity did not come with the trestle brackets, so I am unable to configure it into the scaffolding mode. The Velocity also does not come with the plank to use in scaffolding mode, so I don't really see this as being one of the functions of the ladder as several accessories need to be purchased after-the-fact. I contacted Little Giant regarding the trestle brackets, and they have yet to respond. At first I thought they were missing, but after talking to other people that own Little Giant ladders, they were not aware of the trestle brackets ever being packed with the ladders.

UPDATE: Little Giant finally responded and confirmed the Velocity does NOT come with the trestle brackets. The trestle brackets have to be special ordered. I cannot find them for sale anywhere, and they are not listed on their website. Little Giant offers the brackets but you have to contact them.

The model 22 felt heavy and bulky, something I do not recommend handling by a petite woman or elderly person. I'm not overly weak or excessively strong, but I am fairly athletic and it was cumbersome to move this ladder around the yard and changing it through the different settings/operating modes.
