This Little Giant 1-HP 4-Inch Submersible Deep Well Pump is ideal for use in 4-Inch I.D. or larger wells. It is powered by the Franklin Electric motor. It is designed for residential or agricultural water systems. The shaft stability and multiple flow channels keep small particles such as sand away from bearing surfaces. It has a built in check valve system and a built in suction screen.

Hex rubber bearing with extra large surface assures shaft stability and multiple flow channels keep small particles such as sand away from bearing surfaces. Built-in check valve prevents backflow and ensures system pressure. Built-in suction screen and 1-1/4" NPT thermoplastic discharge head helps to prevent debris from clogging impellers and provides full flow performance without risk of corrosion.

I purchased this pump for watering a small, 9 tree orchard, from a 6000 gallon rainwater collection tank in central Arizona.
So far, we have operated it for one month on an every-other-day schedule for 12 or 24 minutes at a time, plus several manual cycles while setting it up to replace the old vertical, sump-pump unit that failed in similar service every 12-18 months. I will update once we pass that period.

Please note this pump has an installation requirement that it must be tilted by 15° or more from the horizontal for proper bearing lubrication, which is the angle we have it operating at now. This implies a certain amount of water will not be able to be withdrawn from my, or similar, tank installations, however we have years of experience using these types of well pumps with the same motor in other shallow-angle, potable water "pressure pump" service. It should not be run dry. It has a sturdy 3 wire, 230 V motor similar to that of more expensive pumps, and it DOES NOT require a starter box for operation. Just connect it to an appropriately sized motor-starting relay (we use a 230 V timer with 14 day settings and a 2 HP motor rating, which is overkill for this unit.) and it will operate. Make sure you seal the wire connections well, with an appropriate, wet-environment rated sealant.
