From the Author
Audley Wheeler Bethea was born and raised in New Orleans during times of peace, parties and prosperity, when kings of Carnival ruled the day. My grandfather was one of them. Educated at McGehee's School for young ladies and Sophie Newcomb College, I was old enough to be in World War II as a civilian employee of the Navy. Later I became a reporter and columnist on the "Times-Picayune" newspaper in New Orleans. After marrying a captain in the Army, we moved to Texas, Oklahoma and eventually California with our three children, Britton, Audley and Farrar. Always finding time to write poetry, children's books and greeting cards, I confirmed my conviction that one of feew words has a succinct advantage, and that's a fact! Among the many one-liners that now make up the book of Little Gnome Facts are: to say the least and make the most of it, and to sharpen your wits to make a point.
