Little Gorilla's velvety-soft world seems as comfortably secure as the story's evocation of love and friendship.

This is my very favorite book out my 21-month-old son's collection of about 50 board books. I love the first few pages--it reminds me of when our parents & close friends came to the hospital the day my son was born. We also sing "Happy Birthday" at the end. We do some baby sign language too when reading the book. Makes a treasured gift for newborns on up to preschoolers. It's nice to have a book that interests a baby but that also tells a story, i.e., not a picture book with one word per page.

As a single mother with an adopted daughter and an extended family of friends, this is the perfect book to share with my child. Even though all the animals look different, they all love little gorilla and help him out. Also, great for learning animal names and some colors. What a great book! I hope it never goes out of print.

This is a darling book that will strike a chord with any parent (grandparent, aunt, friend, etc.) who thinks a certain child is the most special kid in the world. The book is very simple and sweet and basically tells the story of a little baby gorilla whom everyone in the jungle adores and that even when the gorilla grows up and becomes a big gorilla, he is loved just the same. It's a nice way to say, "You'll always be special" or "You'll always be our baby".

My son was 3 when I bought him Little Gorilla. His sisters were 8 and 10, and he was often frustrated that they could do things he wasn't allowed to do. Little Gorilla was his favorite bedtime story. What he liked most was that Little Gorilla grew, and grew, and grew, until Little Gorilla was BIG! He was surrounded by love and affection that didn't go away once Little Gorilla grew big. I'm buying a new copy of "Little Gorilla" for my future grandchildren. It is a sweet, gentle story, that will always be meaningful to small children and the people who love them.

This is a lovely, sweet book, which shows that adults continue to love a child as he grows. This would be especially nice to give to a toddler with a new, cute younger sibling.

When I visited my ... granddaughter recently, she "read" this book aloud to me, having committed to memory every page. The book is absolutely charming! She loves it at her age, but it would have been one of those books like GOODNIGHT MOON that she would have loved as a less than year old baby. From now on this book, not nearly as well known as MOON, will be one of those that I give to new mothers and their babies. Simply charming!

This is a classic story and a WONDERFUL gift for a first birthday. I have two boys (2.5 and 1) and we love the story so bought it for a friend, I was sad when it arrived because it is a very small book. The version we have is a large board book, this one was very tiny. Anyway, it is a wonderful book that we will read for years to come.

When Little Gorilla was only a day old, he was loved by his Mamma, by his Dad who kissed him tenderly, by Granddad who tossed him in the air while Grammy adored him, and by a jungle-full of Aunties, Uncles, Cuzzins, and Just Friends. Even Lion roars his best as Little Gorilla pulls his tail. No doubt about it: this little gorilla is cute, cute, cute & loved, loved, loved.

Many children can get that part, snuggle closer, and feel pretty secure. But then, to its credit, this wonderful book takes on the question some children may wonder about. As the Beatles sang, "Will you still need me, will you still feed me, when I'm 64?"

What happens when you get bigger, children can wonder. Little Gorilla does grow, and grow, and g-r-o-w, and boy, is he a big gorilla, looking sad as his first birthday approaches. The answer to what happens is, as giraffe, lion, parrot, hippo, elephants, and snake come to his birthday party, "YES!" Everybody still loved him...and, we think, they always will.

This board book is perfect as a pre-schooler approaches a birthday. The drawings are marvelously expressive, the layout and colors are attention-getting in a charming unfussy way, and the story graduates a child to several words or sentences a page.

The pre-schoolers I know love Little Gorilla, and will carry it around if they're going visitng---along with some other favorites. This is a comfort book, like hot cocoa and snuggles. Child development guru Urie Bronfenbrenner maintained we all need someone, even just one person, who will always love us. This is a lovely gift of sweet story not only for the growing-up little ones but also for the grown-ups who will always love their Little Gorillas.

Highly highly recommended.
