5.0 out of 5 stars Aimee Delivers With Feeling
This is a big change for Aimee Allen from her last album. She tones it down considerably here. Her songwriting is fantastic as exhibited in the Ron Paul Anthem, Cooties, and other past works of hers. Normally I would n't love an album as laid back as this one, but her well written songs and her strong unique voice used with such passion win me over on this one. There are...

1.0 out of 5 stars New is not better
This album is a complete change from Aimee's last album. You couldn't get further away from the sounds and style she used to have. I can only think that this album will alienate other fans, especially the remix of "Silence is Violence." I know that she had a traumatic experience but I think she might be suffering from brain damage if this is what she thinks he fans want...

There are 2 songs that don't make it for me and 9 that do. Of those 9 I think tracks 3,4,5,7, and 11 are great. After the final track "God Talks" ends I found myself saying 'I believe you Aimee, and wow! Most of the songs are about coping and carrying on after a love relationship breaks up. I think Aimee found her strength and I know she has porvided me "With a Little Happiness" via this great album. Check this artist out. I think her potential in the future is limitless.

5.0 out of 5 stars Reminds me of a female version of Sublime..., August 14, 2009
This review is from: A Little Happiness (Audio CD)
She covers Santeria, but that's not the only reason I think of Sublime. Sublime made albums with very little, if any, filler. This is one of those albums.

I disagree with the previous listener. I'm not familiar with Aimee's music and just happened upon this cd. I am absolutely buying it because it is, for the most part, very uplifting. It's as if she knows the turmoil some of us have been going through and she is dragging us out of there so we can create our own brighter future as only we can. Aimee- we get you and we love the cd. And now I'm going to go listen to some of your earlier music.

I'm so happy to be able to have a CD with the songs I heard Aimee sing at the Concert for the Republic and Rally for the Republic in Minneapolis last fall.
I love these songs very much, Aimee is such a wonderful artist and a beautiful woman. This CD is HIGHLY recommended!

This CD has some of the best production I've seen outside of high end classical/jazz CDs. It's almost like Aimee's in the room!

I saw Aimee Allen at the Catalyst in Santa Cruz, CA and have loved her music ever since. She's an amazing live performer and this CD brings back some great memories.

4.0 out of 5 stars A very chill album, September 29, 2009
Aimee Allen's newest album is very cool. Another reviewer compared Allen to a female Sublime, and I can understand that connection. The album has a hint of a reggae flavor, and it even includes an excellent cover of Sublime's classic "Santeria". The album as a whole is very good, with a handful of above-average songs. And the music is very chill. Kinda funky and mellow at the same time. It reminds me of being at a beachside cabana or something.

The songs are mostly reggae-influenced tunes (featuring Aimee's voice, a guitar, and some percussion), except for the last song "God Talks To Us", which is a heavier piano ballad that seems to recall "Let It Be". The album also includes a mellower cover of "Save Me", originally by Unwritten Law. (Trivia fact: the song was actually co-written by Allen.) The Amazon MP3 Exclusive Version includes the bonus album-only track "We All", which is pretty cool. (The iTunes version features a different bonus track.)

I downloaded the MP3 album for the sale price of $5.00 after listening to the samples and I ended up really liking it. If you can find a good deal for it, it's worth checking out.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good cover, September 4, 2009
The whole album is worth it for trk 2 "save me" originaly by Unwritten Law. It's good to see that people are still listening to and inspired by UL perhaps the most underrated alt rock band ever.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent..., July 21, 2009

Bold, sassy and fun... not too many folks are willing to make such a departure from their former work. She does it effortlessly and completely. As interesting and entertaining as anything she's ever done. Amazing...

I can only think that this album will alienate other fans, especially the remix of "Silence is Violence." I know that she had a traumatic experience but I think she might be suffering from brain damage if this is what she thinks he fans want to hear. I even asked my girlfriend, who hasn't heard Aimee's old stuff and she thought this was terrible. I don't see why such a dramatic change was necessary, usually when an artist changes styles they do it gradually, mixing in new with old and letting the fans judge. I won't buy this album and don't recommend you buy it either.
