I saw A Little Help From My Friends Live in NY and it was incredible. The CD is just like being back at the show! The commentary only adds to the CD as you can get inside his mind and understand his musical "dorkdom" as he calls it. His ability to take his audience through this musical journey through the decades is amazing. It doesn't hurt that he is one of the most humble guys out there who genuinely cares about his fans! Worth every penny, and if you get the chance GO see him LIVE!

People ~ you must not only listen to Jarrod, but you must see him in person. No matter where you live, a trip to NYC is totally worth every dime you spend. Jarrod's talent will blow you away. And his charisma will melt your heart. I am 60, and boy, if I were 30 years younger....... This man is going to make it to the top of the world.

After six years and 1500 (!) performances as Frankie Valli, Spector gets to sing OTHER songs. And the WHOLE evening is captured on CD.

This is the 25th release in the “Live at 54 Below” series on the independent Broadway Records label since the label debuted in 2012. These CDs present the complete cabaret performance at this new New York nightclub by both cabaret vets and newcomers. So far there have been highs (Patty Lupone) and lows (Norbert Leo Butz) in my opinion. This one falls pretty much in the middle.

Singer Jarrod Spector played the lead role of Frankie Valli in over 1500 performances over six years on Broadway in “Jersey Boys”. He was chosen because he could hit the high falsetto notes and –honestly – he come across great on the “three Valli/Jersey Boys related songs on this CD. As he explains in his introduction to the 76 minute cabaret performance (it’s all here from start to finish), he was having an identity crisis playing the SAME singer night after night. Spector is a tenor and can sing songs that don’t require a falsetto too. That’s the basis for his show. It’s a “Tribute to Tenors” through the age of recorded sound. He goes back to Enrico Caruso for one song and is as current as covering Bruno Mars’ “When I Was Your Man”. In between there are songs made famous by Stevie Wonder, Freddie Mercury, Paul McCartney and even Meat Loaf. He does use his falsetto to cover Barry Gibb (the Bee Gees) and Billy Joel (in Joel’s tune “Uptown Girl”. (Spector’s version of the Beach Boys’ “Good Vibrations”, however, comes across weak.).

The singer is backed by a four-piece band and four back-up singers.

This is an amazing album and a beyond talented person. He traces the roots of the tenor song by song showing where the sounds we all know originated. This is much more than a song collection.
