Editorial Reviews

Review

“The Bible says to ‘be still and know God’–a challenge in our harried culture..  This book will help you achieve relational wellness with God, your spouse, and your children.”
Don M. “Bubba” Cathy, Sr. Vice President, Chick-fil-A, Inc.

“Like learning to breathe, blink, or swallow, we assume we’ll automatically know how to rest. But in the rush of today’s world, what was once an automatic response is now an acquired behavior. Tim Kimmel teaches us how to rest…and, therefore, how to live.”
- Elisa Morgan, MOPS International

Hurry and busyness are everyday parts of modern life. True priorities of things that matter most may be lost. Little House on the Freeway offers biblical insights and principles to our hurried existence–help from the Word of God for the life being lived in the fast lane.”
- Billy Graham

“Once again, Tim Kimmel has stayed away from the typical mantras offered by ‘family experts’ and given us a fresh, relevant message for parents and families.”
- Cliff Young, lead singer of Caedmon’s Call

Little House on the Freeway is a book that runs over all our excuses about life-bustling, driving home our need for balance and peace.”
- Patsy Clairmont, author of I Second That Emotion

“I am thrilled that Tim Kimmel is re-releasing this updated classic. Little House on the Freeway will profoundly impact your priorities for marriage and family and have an enduring influence on you and your legacy.
- Dr. Crawford W. Loritts, Jr., Senior Pastor, Fellowship Bible Church

“If you’re looking for an antidote to family stress and strain–look no further. For those who want to steer clear of unhealthy stress and towards family closeness, this book is ‘must-read’ material.”
- John Trent, Ph. D.

“If you feel that your family’s schedule is out of control and going way too fast, then you need Tim Kimmel’s wisdom. If you feel that you’re doing just fine, then you may desperately need this book.”
- Steve Farrar, Point Man Leadership Ministries

“In a warm and, at times, humorous style Kimmel offers sound, practical counsel on how to restore calmness and rest to marriage, family life, workplace, and relationship with God.”

5.0 out of 5 stars Take Time to Read this One!, April 12, 2001
By rodboomboom (Dearborn, Michigan United States) - See all my reviews

Hurry up and wait! The theme for our world. Everyone seems to be so intensely busy. Never enough time for the real things we want to do.

This book will help. It won't be cure-all. But it is great start.

God wants His children to have rest, rest for our bodies, souls and minds. Rest from anxiety, etc., so at the heart is our rest in Christ.

From this, Kimmel proceeds to apply it to relationships, work, children, suffering, forgiveness, etc.

Fun read, but so relevant and applicable.

5.0 out of 5 stars Worthwhile Insights, June 8, 2004
By David R. Bess (Charleston, WV) - See all my reviews
(TOP 500 REVIEWER)    (REAL NAME)
This book addresses the vast majority of American families today that are rushed, rushed and rushed some more. With parents and kids alike trying to cram more and more activities into an already-crowded schedule, this volume is a God-send. The message that families should focus on the eternal rather than the temporal is communicated in relevant and realistic ways.

If you don't have time to read a book on this subject, then you need to TAKE the time! This title is well-worth the small investment of money and time required for the reading.

5.0 out of 5 stars Rest and Peace, November 9, 2008
By mjmcc61 (Sunnyvale, CA United States) - See all my reviews
I bought this book at a marriage conference with the hope that it would provide some ideas for slowing down the busyness of a dual-career, three-child household. To my surprise, it offers much more that that. It guided me to think through my strengths, calling, convictions and relationships in every part of my life.

Pursuing success as a goal had left me disappointed, disillusioned, dissatisfied and disenfranchised. I had measured my significance by others' opinions, expectations and accomplishments. I was weary and worn out. Tim Kimmel's call to forgiveness, repentance and gratitude has brought renewal - and rest! Rest is not only a gift or a commandment, it is also a choice, based on an attitude of truth rooted in faith.
