Celia Wilkins has studied letters, diaries, and documents pertaining to the Quiner and Wilder families, and she extensively researched early settler life of the nineteenth century in Wisconsin. She lives in her own little 1850's house in Brooklyn, New York, with her husband and son.

I am 32 year old mother of four and have read Laura's book since about age 8. So 24 years - Wow!

This book is a wonderful ending for the Caroline years and really portrayed the Ma I feel we all know from the original books. That strength she showed while teaching the little school reminded me of the Caroline that stood up to Indians, survived the Long Winter, and taught her daughters to be ladies not matter how primative the living conditions.

I love Laura Ingalls Wilder's "Little House" series. I didn't read them until I was 16 years old, but I love them as much as if I'd grown up with them.

I was a bit leary to try anything about Laura's family that wasn't written by her. But when I saw that "A Little House of Their Own" was about Ma and Pa courting, I knew I had to try it. I did, and I loved it!

It stayed true to Ma's character (as Laura portrayed her) and gave a picture of growing up, teaching school, and first love. Now that I know what to expect, I plan to go back and read the other Caroline stories.

I am a 14 year old reader of the Little House series. That may sound strange, but I've been reading these books since I was little, and I find myself still drawn to them. One of the reasons I liked this book so much was because of the romance.

In the 7th book, and final book in the Caroline years, Caroling starts teaching at the Concord school. She finds the Summer term easier then she thought. She helps her students, one in particular, with a good grace and care. Then, in the middle of the winter term, she finds herself facing greater challenges as the older boys come to school. She has to discipline them, even though she doesn't want to, and is faced with an upset father.

Meanwhile, Charles Ingalls, who she saw after two years on Independence Day, is showing more interest in Caroline. Her sisters, Eliza and Martha, tell her that ie is obviously interested in her, but Caroline doesn't believe it, though the thought of it makes her smile.

Will he ask her to marry him? Will she say yes? The ending of the story will answer all of your questions about the relationship, and you realize how much Caroline has grown up in the series.
