My daughter (who is 5) got this as a gift from my sister, she was immediately thrilled... but not for long. There is NO way a kid can make a cone --it's gonna take an adult with the stamina of a marathon runner.

I let her crank it for a while, nothing came out. NOTHING. So I cranked, and cranked and cranked... (Keep in mind I'm treating this thing kinda' gingerly because it is a bit rickety -and yes I was pressing down on the ice thing. Not a lot though `cus again I'm afraid I might break the whole da-gone thing.) 10 minutes later a bit of fuzz starts to come out, but it melts before a little bit more fuzz comes out. Meanwhile my kid is complaining and I'm banging my knuckles. By now I have a good bit of time and effort into this so I'm determined to get a cone for her. I put it into high gear even if I break it she's getting a cone! We finally did get enough for her to have a snow cone, it did not break the toy. But if your kid is like mine and wants to invite friends over for her to make cones for... FORGET IT! You will be doing the cranking and it takes an incredible amount of effort for just one cone. Not worth it!

And don't think you can cheat by using crushed ice, you can't :-)

Another complaint is they give you an envelope of Wyler's drink mix in place of the syrup and instruct you to mix it with a half cup of water, that's it, no sugar, YUCK. Well, I mixed it with some sugar, (because they don't tell you how much) I just kept adding until it tasted good... but they don't even tell you if you have to refrigerate the unused portion or anything.

Just terrible, my daughter was very disappointed and I very tired :-)

My daughter loves Dora and I love snow cones...I couldn't wait to give it to her. It's made very poorly and doesn't work. It never produced shaved ice and the crank fell off. It's such a shame..please don't waste your money. I just wish they could have made a quality product. I would pay more money for a toy that actually worked.

We purchased our Dora Snow-cone maker because we always love having a Snow-Cones when we are out at Fairs and other Local events. We knew it would be fun...but it has been a huge hit. We struggled a little at first because we were trying to use large ice cubes, but when we started using crushed ice the machine worked it's magic and we were filling up cups with ice and adding our own flavorings. We use kool-aid and even juice to flavor our Snow-Cones. It is a great treat on a hot day. We have even purchased a couple as birthday presents, since we love ours so much.
