The definitive history of the early Apple,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Little Kingdom: The Private Story of Apple Computer (Hardcover)
This is THE book that explains the origins and quirks of Apple's first decade, giving some clue as to how the company turned out the way it did. If you read any of the later books, they all cite Moritz heavily to get the early story straight. Moritz doesn't have the dirt of the later books, but he also has much less of an axe to grind than his successors.

The Little Kingdon: The Private Story of Apple Computer,
By Dave Rowe (San Francisco) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Little Kingdom: The Private Story of Apple Computer (Hardcover)
I have read nearly all the books on Jobs and Apple and this is one of the best. It was written in 1984, so it only covers the early history of the company. Moritz was a writer for Time magazine and does a wonderful job profiling the personalities of the founders and the challenges the company faced. Essential reading for someone trying to truly understand the roots of Apple.
