An excellent resource with useful illustrations to help the little league coach prepare for practices, games and parents. Strong points: good baseball drill and practice suggestions that are easily implementable on the field, good communications suggestions to ensure your team and their parents know what's up and minimize problems. If you're not worried about winning too much then about 1/3 of the material is not going to be very useful to you. If winning is everything (at this level I don't think it should be for lower level teams, for all stars and above the story changes) then this has excellent ideas to help you achieve your goal. I strongly recommend it to anyone who is a first time coach.

I am not a coach but I try to know as much as I can about the sports that my children are involved. My husband and I used some of the drill techniques with our children and the results were great. We did not get frustrated and we had a great family time. My husband stepped into the "assistant coaches" position half way into the season and he saw marvelous results by using these drills. The team begged to practice some of the drills! A must-have for all coaches!

I bought this thinking it would be for an introductory coach.... it is more on the rules and very high level. for example the book reads - "make sure you get the right bat for the batter" and does not explain how to measure right bat height......same is true for the height of the tee...... disappointing.


I'm going to buy another book......

Good book if its your first and you are in a hurry. Covers all the basics.

this book is very easy to understand,making it suitable for rookie coaches

I recently returned to coaching and really thought this book helped me get back into it!

I got this book for my son for Father's Day. He is a Little League coach and he loved it! He said it would be a big help with his kids!

This is worthwhile for first time coaches and parents. Keep it
all in perspective as fun has to be intertwined with skill building.

I have 6 or 7 books I am pulling out to loan to a new coach. I reread this LL book - and I find it so weak I am actually throwing it away.

This book encouraged me to continue coaching my sons softball team. For once I was treated with respect when I taught. The children also enjoyed playingmthe gsme. I recommend the book for any young, inexperienced cosaches.
