I also found this book at TJ Maxx for $3. Before my son was born I went on a hormone induced shopping spree for all the books I had as a kid and anything that looked fun. I really loved the simple but bright artwork, little did I know what a big hit this would be. starting at 6 mos my son was able to recognize this book progressing now at 11 mos to grab the book climb in my lap and have me read the book over and over again. sometimes he will just sit on the floor and flip the book and kiss the baby on the heads are big page. I am buying another copy for a friend and hope she gets the same joy from the book as our family does.

Very clever, well-illustrated book!,

This is a very clever book, with comparisons such as "Ladies are big, lady bugs are little". The illustrations are beautifully hand-painted, and kids like that they are simple, colorful and cute. This makes a great set with the author's other books (Yummy Yucky, Quite Loud), and I hope that they're offered together in a boxed set soon.

I found this book at TJ Maxx for $3, and what a bargain! The pictures attract you, since they are simple graphics, not all busy on the page like some other books we've looked at. Also, the words are so simple and fun, ie "Trees are big. Dandelions are little." It's perfect for my little baby girl. I recommend it to all looking for young children's books.

This book and the rest of Leslie Patricelli's books are SO great for even the littlest "readers". My 6 month old son loves to look at the picture because they are so bold and colourful. My nephew loves the simple story. Makes a fast, easy read for beginer readers too. I will buy ALL her books!

My 1 yr old daughter got this book for her birthday last month. She likes to look through it on her own, but I'm not sure she understands the significance of "big" and "little" yet. She prefers the book "No no Yes yes" right now. Big Little is a cute and funny book. The page that made my husband & I laugh most was "Ladies are Big, ladybugs are little". I'd also like to buy Quiet Loud, Yucky Yummy, and Potty.

This little book is a lovely addition to our toddler son's library...he has most of the Patricelli books and loves them all. This one is especially helpful for him to learn size distinctions. The drawings are fun and colorful, and he always laughs at the pictures.

Another Patricelli hit,

I love Patricelli's books. They are simple, adorable, and easy for little ones to grasp. As usual, here she breaks down the concept of opposites so easily, and does so with a sweet, simple humor that both kids and adults will enjoy. While my 13 month old sometimes grows a bit restless by the end of Patricelli's books, and this is no exception, I think that with time, she will come to love them more and sit through the entire book. A couple of quibbles with this book: I agree that "ladies are big" is kind of a weird page-- especially when there is a "grown ups are big" page already in the book. I also wish that Patricelli had used "flowers are little," rather than "dandelions are little." Board-book age kids are just too young to really grasp specific flower names, and my daughter has no idea what a dandelion is. (And, we live in the city, so there aren't many around.) I change the words myself to "flowers" each time, because she does know what flowers are, and understands that they are little and fragile. I noticed that when I read "dandelion," she would just sort of wait for the next page. Now that I read "flower," she pays more attention, because she recognizes the word, so it is easier for her to grasp the big/little concept that the book is trying to convey.

My 18 mo loves this big. Even though some of the comparisons are funny and others are a bit out of the ordinary, she understands the concepts looking at the pictures. She even repeats Big and Little after each sentence. Highly recommend for little ones under the age of 3.

Another great one by L. Patricelli. My toddler loves this one too, as he does all her books. Adorable illustrations and it teaches them about opposites.

I love the style of the illustrations in this book - it's very unique. The high contrasting colors are beautiful. Also, the main character of the book is a baby, which is appealing to our little one.
