I love to quilt. Lorraine has made it so easy to create several quilts quickly with ease. The instructions are easy to follow and the results are very rewarding.
Do not fear failure. Lorraine instructs you on every step you will take. Color suggestions are given and the patterns are easy to follow. I find sending these quilts to my friends is very rewarding. You will be delighted how simple it will be to locate the colors you use in your studio. There will be no need to step out of your home on these wintery days. (Ofcourse if you are really wanting to touch and buy some new material go right ahead. Your car knows the quickest route to your local fabric shop.) I can recommend this book to quilters of all levels.

First I must admit, I am not a quilter. I keep thinking about it, but I am daunted by the scope and tediousness of sewing so many stitches and fear of not getting things lined up right. (My few attempts in the past had misaligned shapes.) This book has conquered my fears! I truly believe that with this author's method I could sew a quilt and get the pieces lined up right. And the idea of a mini quilt is less daunting for a hand quilted finished project. In fact one of the items in the book is for a framed star, that doesn't need to be quilted at all!
The methods are explained clearly, there are very detailed step-by-step photos and instructions. The patterns are clear, included, and ready to be used. I would recommend this book to anyone interested in starting quilting, interested in trying a mini-quilt, interested in trying a different method, or interested in a new quilting challenge. If nothing else the information at the beginning of the book on selecting fabric colors, and the wide selection of completed quilts, is great for giving examples and suggestions to those who may struggle with ideas or who have difficulty envisioning how a completed project will look with certain color choices. The book is an excellent reference for me just for fabric types, colors, values, pattern, and thread weight. I recommend this book highly.

Lorraine Olsen has made lone star quilts do-able by any quilter. This is a gorgeous book with very clear directions, inspiring projects, and an incredibly accurate method for piecing these beauties, even for those of us who are "perfect-point" impaired! I love it! Thanks, Lorraine, for making lone star quilts easy!
