From School Library Journal
Grade 3-4-This series entry offers a glimpse into the life of the legendary trumpeter, exploring Armstrong's childhood and rise to fame. The text is clear and easy to read, and offers interesting tidbits about life in the early 1900s. Rich's average-quality drawings are accompanied by some black-and-white photographs. A solid, additional biography, but not needed if your library has Patricia and Fredrick McKissack's Louis Armstrong (Enslow, 1991).
