I can guarantee that if you are looking for the best karaoke style Little Mermaid Broadway CD out there, this is it! Trust me, I've looked...and looked. I'll admit, it bugs me to death that there are 9 songs missing from this album that were in the Original Broadway Cast recording; like "Storm at Sea", the Finale, and 7 out of 8 reprises. However, everything else is spot on! For an accompaniment recording, the singers play their parts really well with the exception of maybe Ursula. But more importantly, since the album doesn't come with printed lyrics for the songs, I'm pleased that the singers are very easy to understand, so learning the songs by ear is a breeze. The instrumentals are great too. It sound like the symphony was recorded in a big auditorium instead of a studio, so if you like that "live on the stage" sound, it's there. 4/5 stars for the near perfection of the whole package, but jeers for the lack of 9 songs.

This is an excellent version of 'The Little Mermaid', with top quality singers and a lively and musical accompaniment. A wonderful Sebastian - for me, better than the film or the Broadway cast. The backing tracks, on a separate disc, are well made and just what I wanted to accompany rehearsals, but I guess equally useful for the intended karaoke or indeed just to enjoy as instrumental tracks in their own right. High quality disks.

I wasn't certain about whether I should buy this disc because many of the guide vocals on CD's I have purchased before sound too mechanical, but these performers are great, and so is the sound quality. I especially love Sharon McNight as "Ursula". I wish that she were in the Broadway production of The Little Mermaid when I saw it in New York City. She completely blows away the lady that I saw performing Ursula's part. I would love to find more CD's of just Sharon McNight's material. But, in the meantime, buy this disc now!
