I've had this movie since i was little and watched it many times. I have to say this is the most chilling version i've seen (partly because of the dubbing of the voices not lining up with the animation, but the music definitely adds another layer of emotion to the story). The good part of the movie is that it stays true to the actual story. I personally wouldn't reccomend it for younger children, but i may just be more sensitive than most. It really is an emotional movie; it will give you chills, make you laugh, and (particularly at the end) make you cry. Just as a warning, the animation is quite dated and is in anime style.

this movie , has touched me ever since i was a kid and now im in my 20's its really good and the animation is great , so are the songs.

This movie is my favorite movie. I had first seen it when I was a kid, and again in high school through a friend, but only recently by chance finally got my hands on the VHS for myself. This is a movie that sticks with you. Much truer to the original story that other movies, and the style of animation is gorgeous. I am so pleased with it.

This film was wonderfully animated and shows the true story of the little mermaid and the valuble lessons it teaches. the voice acting however was less than fair... But i am more upset at the people at star maker who gave no credit to the japanese artists and original creators of this film. The entire thing is done in a japanese style of animation and even has a japaenes charecter at the end of the movie that has a similar meaning to "fin". I was very upset and disapointed at this. More proof of this IS that the voice acting was so bad. you can even tell by how horribly the mouths line up with the voices(even for a 70's animation) that they were not the original voices. Despite this depressingly horrible display of copyright enfringment i think this film deserves and audience...only if distributed by its rightful creators.

I am looking for the little mermaid with the cattle in the background, I realize that's a cllectors item
