4.0 out of 5 stars I truly enjoyed this book.
When I first started reading this book I really thought I wasn't going to like it. Especially because of the reason's for why Julia didn't tell Max about his children. I do believe the reason should of been something more plausible, but this isn't my book and I didn't write it so it isn't up to me. What I did like about the character's is that their relationship just felt...

1.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely horrible
I'm not sure how this ended up on my list of recommendations -- I rarely read contemporary genre romances, and almost never those whose plot revolves around turning a self-absorbed man into a loving and devoted father. Still, I read it, and I'm taking the time now to suggest that you skip it. Bluntly, this is a terrible book.

Now, the writing is not bad. It's the characters and the plot. I hated both the main characters, and my opinion of each of them just got worse as the book progressed. Both of them are walking, talking cliches of bad romance writing. Neither of them has a clue how to talk to another person in a meaningful way, so they just spout romance novel cliches at one another. There are so many secrets, none of which was the least bit necessary, that the book nearly topples over from the weight of them. These people had no business getting married in the first place, and the female lead, in particular, was endlessly shrill, self-righteous, and wholly un-self-aware.

What she did to the male lead was unconscionable and she decided she was completely justified just because it made her feel better about herself. She got what she wanted by unjustifiable secrecy and extortion. Her absolute conviction that she was wonderful, long-suffering, and generous -- when in fact she was selfish, brought most of her problems on herself, and blamed everyone except herself for situations she did much to create -- would have made me throw the book across the room more than once, except that I like my Kindle too much to throw it anywhere.

What a complete waste of time.

4.0 out of 5 stars I truly enjoyed this book., February 26, 2011
When I first started reading this book I really thought I wasn't going to like it. Especially because of the reason's for why Julia didn't tell Max about his children. I do believe the reason should of been something more plausible, but this isn't my book and I didn't write it so it isn't up to me. What I did like about the character's is that their relationship just felt very natural and they didn't spend the whole time wondering if the other person loved them and just dwell on that throughout the book. The characters do love each other and this story is really about working on any relationship and how two sided it has to be or it will fail.

I really enjoyed the writing of the book and that helped overcome my annoyance with certain aspects of the book. I really liked how the author put us in the characters head, so I could understand and feel what they were going through. The best part about the book is Max and his interaction with his baby girls it is adorable! I recommend this book especially if you can get over a little stupidity from Julia and understand she is human and made a mistake that she will likely regret forever. I really enjoyed the characters interaction and their genuine love for one another. Trust me this is a good read and I have read and paid a lot more for worse books.

I read the review and wasn't going to purchase the book for I haven't read anything by this author. However, for the price I couldn't go wrong. I was truly pleasantly surprised by the story and the main characters. Max, I found was not arrogant and truly liked his character. Julia was a little selfish but realized it and got herself together.
I'm glad this is one review I didn't listen to but went with my gut. I will be looking to read more by this author in the near future. Get a sample of the book if you have the Nook. Or just take the chance I did. You won't be disappointed. Just keep an open mind.
