Just received my doll. Listened to it many times over. Only babbles and says "mama". Really cute with pacifer and bottle. Cute packaging. Maybe other dolls have different recordings but mine certainly does not. I wish I purchased more at the discounted rate but was hesitant due to controversy.
Don't be scared. An cute doll for the price.

I heard all the controversy over this doll and how it says "Islam is the light" I went to the store and played with the doll and u can clearly hear that it says that, well as long as you are listening for it. I had played with these dolls with my daughter in the store before and NEVER noticed this. I think it's not really a big deal and wasn't done on purpose. A little kid would NEVER notice this so no biggie!!!

I heard the rumors about this doll. I am a Catholic and I listened to it myself. I spoke with Jesus and he told me it says "Islam is a Blight."
This is a pro-Christian doll. I then purchased three of these dolls to represent the Holy Trinity. A purple one for the father, a aqua one for Jesus, and a gold one for the Holy Spirit. My Daughter loves them she thinks they say " I slam a bike", but I set her straight. Then I woke up and realized that this is all a bunch of crap. It's a doll people! It is adorable and speaks baby talk. That's it. It can sound like anything you want it to, but it is just baby talk.

I bought this doll for my 14 month old. I also tried out several of the same dolls at our local Target. The 1st two times it does some babbling sounds and the 3rd time it does babbling then clearly says in a clearer voice Islam is the light. Hubby and I both heard it clear as day on several different dolls and people around us heard it too and couldnt believe it. I think it is funny that some worker on the assembly line is having a huge laugh right now. I remember when someone got a picture of a male organ on the can of air freshener 15 yrs ago. Yes, it says it. Will it cause some psychological distress to our 14 month old? I highly doubt it. I think its a cute doll that someone got by Mattell with a defect.

We were secretly hoping this baby really did say "Islam is the light" as reported by others when we bought this for our 12 month old son. Sadly for us, it only babbles adorable nonsense syllables and "mama" in a sweet baby voice. My son loves his baby doll and enjoys feeding him to get him to make sucking noises; the doll also giggles delightfully. Not sure if ours was a second generation with a corrected voice track, but no hint of proselytizing here.

I don't own this product at the moment (hence the neutral review)--I'm in the midst of browsing dolls for my 2 year old daughter...and came across this one. I haven't personally heard what this doll says, but I'm disturbed by the
negative comments I'm reading. I can understand not agreeing with the "Islam is the light" statement if you're not Islam. I'm Catholic, so Catholicism represents many of my views...but what's wrong with a doll
saying something positive about a religion? How can people be appalled by this unless you're Athiest? Whether the doll is saying something about Islam, Buddhism, Judaism, etc...is it not saying something
positive about God? I understand that parents want their children to grow up with the same faith as themselves.....we'll raise our daughter to be a Catholic. But if I end up purchasing this, and if it does indeed
sound that way to us, then we'll use it as an opportunity to teach our daughter that yes, Islam is one of many religions in the world, and that while we don't practice it, millions of people do and all religions
worship God whether he's called Jesus, Mohammed, etc. How about some tolerance and diversity, people?!!

This baby is really cute. When i got the box i could hear her babbling inside. She says Mommy and some baby noises nothing else. Not human baby sized, I was expecting it to be a little larger, but it has a great face.

My 7 year old bought this with her birthday money and is very happy with it. She says that she is "cute and little and makes noises, blows bubbles, says Mama, and she is 100% cute".
I like that the noises can be turned off, and actually the doll is turned off most of the time.
My 2 reservations about the doll were that it had a hard body, and its clothes are not easily removable.
As for the controversy about what the doll says - I had never heard this before and I have noticed nothing but giggles and coos coming out of the doll, with the exception of Mama. Not a clue what other people are talking about. Maybe they changed the doll since then.

My 4 year old saw this doll at the store and fell in love with her. She carried the baby all around the store until I managed to distract her so I could put the doll away. We bought it as a christmas gift and both daughters love this talking baby. She gurgles and coos. She has sensors in her forehead that detect movement. She'll began to "talk". When you "feed" her with her bottle or pacifer, she gets quiet. We have a variety of baby dolls at our house, but none have been as big of a hit as this one.

I must admit that I too fell in love with this toy. She has a pleasant coo, not at all irritating to listen to (unlike some other toys). It's a worthwhile toy, appealing and sure to get a lot of use at this house.

I was shocked when I read the reviews here about her vocal sounds. I had been listening to the doll for a while and did not hear anything other than a baby cooing. She has settings: vocal interaction, and non-vocal interaction, so if you are hearing things that you think shouldn't be there, you have the option to mute the sound.

This doll is the cutest thing ever...my niece is in love with it. The doll does not say Islam is the light...although there's nothing wrong with that message....it sounds more like the doll is saying it's mommy's delight or something along those lines. When Islam comes in the picture, everybody gets all crazy. Even if the doll did say Islam is the light, who cares? One phrase from a doll will not convert a 2 year old kid. If anything, the child may ask questions and it will make the child more tolerant about other religions...since when has that become a bad thing?
