5.0 out of 5 stars Adam Sandler Is LITTLE NICKY
In the comedy LITTLE NICKY, Adam Sandler plays Nicky, a heavy metal rock fan who also happens to be the son of the devil. 3.0 out of 5 stars Say Mr. Beefy!!!
This is not nearly as good as his other comedies, but still fun to watch if you are a Sandler fan (or SNL). I especially liked all of the esoteric "Heavy Metal" references! It was funnier than I thought (I wasn't expecting much from the reviews I read). One irritating problem was "Nicky's" voice in the movie, it was hard to hear what he was saying...

5.0 out of 5 stars Adam Sandler Is LITTLE NICKY, April 28, 2001
This review is from: Little Nicky (New Line Platinum Series) (DVD)
In the comedy LITTLE NICKY, Adam Sandler plays Nicky, a heavy metal rock fan who also happens to be the son of the devil. When it is announced that his father will not give up the throne and continue to rule hell for the next 10,000 years, Nicky's evil brothers go up to Earth to steal human souls and generally create hell on earth. Now, Nicky is charged with the task of bringing both of his brothers back to hell in order to restore the balance between good and evil all over the world and to save his father from rapidly decomposing. This movie is totally halarious with alot of perverted humor thrown in for good measure and it actually helps the story move along. Also includes cameo appearences by Rodney Dangerfield, Kevin Nealon, Reese Witherspoon, Jon Lovitz, Dana Carvey, and Ozzy Osbourne. The DVD edition of this film contains special features such as the theatrical trailer for the film, a behind-the-scenes documentary on the making of the film, an excellent documentary on heavy metal music, and a halarious commentary track.

5.0 out of 5 stars "Release the Good, Release the Awesome!", May 8, 2005

This review is from: Little Nicky (New Line Platinum Series) (DVD)
Definitely a good comedy, Little Nicky, brings to the screen the story of the devil's youngest son, who travels to Earth in search of his two older brothers who are responsible for his father's ongoing decomposition and eventual death. Things become a bit more complicated since little Nicky is not "all evil..."
Adam Sandler, Harvey Keitel, Reese Witherspoon, and the rest of the cast, have outdone themselves with their performances, which are exceptional to say the least. All the actors, without exceptions, give it their 100% and it really shows! Very well written and very well presented, the movie is without a doubt guaranteed to provide more than just a few laughs.
The setting, the plot, the dialogues, the humor, and the music are all wonderful!
In short, Little Nicky is a movie worth watching and even though it is not quite as good as the Waterboy or the Wedding Singer, it is definitely a keeper! 4½ Stars

4.0 out of 5 stars The previews made it look dreadful, but it's a fave silly comedy of mine!, February 17, 2006

I know what you're thinking. If you're anything at all like me, when this movie was in the movie theaters and the previews were running rampantly, I thought this looked like the stupidest piece of trash to ever grace the big screen. But I'll admit readily when I'm wrong, and here I absolutely was. I'm not saying Little Nicky is the world's greatest film, or even comedy, but if you like Adam Sandler and silly comedies in general, this is a movie that won't disappoint when you desperately need something mindless to turn your brain into mush after a horrendous week (or even day) at work.

A movie that opens with Jon Lovitz acting like a big, horny bird in a tree certainly promises to be very entertaining. And it is. And we're taken straight to hell with Harvey Keitel playing the devil himself very nicely, a brief encounter with Dan Marino, and the late Rodney Dangerfield to name a few. We're also treated to the heavens above with Reese Witherspoon and the guy who played Adam Sandler's golf mentor in Happy Gilmore. This movie has everything it takes to be insanely silly and entertaining. And you'll LOVE what happens to Hitler in this.

Don't take it too seriously. If you do, you miss the entire point of Little Nicky. If this is your kind of movie, add it to your collection...you'll watch it many, many, many times again. Enjoy!

It was funnier than I thought (I wasn't expecting much from the reviews I read). One irritating problem was "Nicky's" voice in the movie, it was hard to hear what he was saying. The movie really deserves 3-1/2 stars, but the system doesn't allow for it. All in all a good silly little flick.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Amusing!, February 13, 2002

My brother first told me that I should watch this movie because it was so funny. I had my doubts, thinking it may be stupid, but I went and rented it, anyway. I've never laughed so much at movie! Adam Sandler is hilarious (as usual) as Nicky, the son of the Devil, who goes to Manhattan to find his two evil brothers. Not one part of this movie was boring and I never stopped laughing. I was very surprised to see that Reese Witherspoon has a small role in the film as Nicky's mother (an angel). She plays the part very well! I think everybody who wants to watch a funny movie should definitely pick up Little Nicky. Plus, AC/DC's song at the end of the film ("Highway To Hell") is awesome!

About 20 minutes was all I could take of this awful excuse for a film. I can't judge the whole
film, but I couldn't take any more of this stupidity after 20 minutes. Luckily, it was on TV.
Now happily erased.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Sandler movie., June 28, 2005
This review is from: Little Nicky (New Line Platinum Series) (DVD)
3 and 1/2 stars
This is one of Sandler's best. I was laughing my head off the first time I saw it on TV. That prompted me to buy this one. Well, the plot is centered around Nicky who'a a shy dude that has two mean brothers. But he's a unique guy because he's the son of the Devil. When his father is dying because of his brothers, he needs to go down to earth to retrieve his brothers as that's the only way he can save him. It's funny to see him there because he keeps on dying. He gets hit by trains, busses, etc.. but then just respawns. He is met by a talking dog and they become friends. This movie's about a really "foreign" guy that's got to go on a journey to save his dad. There's a good cast with Adam Sandler, Harvey Keitel, Patricia Arquette, Reese Witherspoon and a brief appearance by John Lovitz. The movie is sacriligious and quite stupid but it still delivered laughs which is always good.

4.0 out of 5 stars Highly entertaining in its own twisted, moronic way, January 2, 2004

While I've always thought that Adam Sandler's best work was in his "Saturday Night Live" appearances, his movies can be very funny and entertaining as well. Out of all the ones I've seen with him, "Little Nicky" remains my favorite. I think those who despise this movie might have had their expectations too high. Let's face it, a movie with Adam Sandler won't win any Academy Award. But sometimes we just want to put our brains on neutral and watch a mindless flick. "Little Nicky" fits the bill perfectly. Sandler plays one of three brothers, all sons of the devil. When his two siblings escape from Hell and start causing a commotion on Earth, Sandler is sent to try to fix things up.

I can't really put my finger on what exactly makes this movie work, but perhaps it's the way the humor is delivered. Often crude, moronic and tasteless perhaps, and it certainly won't be everyone's cup of tea, but take it for what it is. Not every joke works but those that do provide some very funny moments. The special effects are quite well done, adding to the gags and emphasizing them in an even more silly fashion. There are also many cameos, among them Harvey Keitel, Rodney Dangerfield, Reese Witherspoon and Ozzy Osbourne. While each has a somewhat limited screen time, they all add their own unique humor to the movie. Sandler's speech impediment can get a little irritating and doesn't really serve a purpose nor does it contribute to the movie's plot, but that eventually gets lost in the midst of all the funny stuff going on. Another cool thing worth mentioning is the great interactive menus. You'll have a lot of fun surfing through the different options, although it does get a little old after a few times. The bonus features are also noteworthy. There are deleted scenes, two commentaries, P.O.D.'s music video and other goodies. For those of you who have a DVD drive on your computer, there's some exclusive DVD-Rom features. This disc is definitely loaded. All in all a recommended purchase for any Adam Sandler fan.
