I just can't say enough good things about the Fisher-Price Little People toys. The farm is no exception - another well-made, durable, go-to-it-every-5-minutes toy.

3.0 out of 5 stars Reply to recall...
I phoned the recall bureau today 11/03 and asked if I bought the product today, has it been fixed and they said yes. There was a loose screw that a child had choked on, check the recalls for more details. Hope this helps. So I am about to purchase this toy, that is why I rated it a 3 since I had to put something in.

I just can't say enough good things about the Fisher-Price Little People toys. The farm is no exception - another well-made, durable, go-to-it-every-5-minutes toy.

My 15 month old twins just got the farm from their grandparents (grandpa is a farmer), and they LOVE the toy. The animals, as with the other Little People sets, are easy to grasp and don't mind getting chewed on. The noises are fun, and they are already figuring out which animal goes with which sound. They dance to the music every time they play it, and even get a huge kick out of placing the extras (weathervane, windmill and scarecrow) around the farm.

This is another winner!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun for Little People!, November 30, 2003
= Durability:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Little People Animal Sounds Farm (Toy)
The Little People Animals Sounds Farm (by Fisher-Price) is probably my 2 year old daughter's absolute favorite toy. She got it for Christmas last year and has played with it probably every single day since then. She takes the animals with her wherever she goes!

Details about the toy:

* the barn has a first floor and second floor. The first floor is where the animals live and the second floor is Farmer Jed's bedroom/workspace.
* animals included are a horse, cow, pig, chicken, and sheep.
* the horse and cow noises are made by opening the swinging gates to their "stable" areas
* the chicken noise is made by sitting the chicken on top of her nest (the nest flips over to reveal either eggs or chicks - which I thought was a very clever idea) - it doesn't take much pressure to hear the sounds...perfect for little ones
* the pig and sheep noises are made by placing each animal onto their own little "living area" (pig has a mudhole, sheep has dirt surrounded by grass)
* Farmer Jed is included (blond character)
* there are three interchangeable parts (windmill, rooster - which I think is supposed to be a weathervane, scarecrow) that can be places in three different places on the farm
* there are two fence pieces that you can attach to either side of the farm as well as to each other
* there is a cart that attaches to the horse and the cart holds a bale of hay (removable)
* Farmer Jed's bed (which is on the second floor of the barn) can be tilted so Farmer Jed can effortlessly get out of bed in the morning and get right to work (I didn't even notice this feature at first, but my daughter loves to place the animals on the bed and make them go "wheeeeee" out the window)
* you will have to place a number of decals/stickers in their respective places. There are "family pictures" in each stable/living area (a picture of a family of pigs near the pig pen, etc.)
* the entire barn/farm is foldable for easier transportation/storage and you can fit all of the accompanying pieces into the barn for storage
* there is a platform by the barn door which plays "The Farmer in the Dell" when pressed.

My daughter knows all of the sounds that the five animals in this set make (and has since she was about 21 months old), in part because of this toy. While this toy is probably not classified under "educational", it is a very educational toy. It can act as an aid for teaching about animals: the kinds of animals that live on a farm, what sort of home the animal makes, and the sounds these animals make. It is also a great toy for "matching" because the child will learn to match the animal to its appropriate home (based upon the various characteristics of the home).

We also have the matching "Farmer's Market" with Sonya Lee, a car and trailer with a crate of apples and a fence piece with the farmer's market stand. All of these pieces are interchangeable with the pieces in the Farm (and all other Little People playsets).

My daughter actually uses the farm as her "house" for all of her small figurines/toys (she has some care bear figurines as well as some other similar-sized plastic toys, all of whom live on the Little People Farm!

If I HAD to find a negative about the toy, it would be the fact that it's rather difficult to keep the many crevices clean and they are rather difficult to get clean in the first place. But that's the ONLY negative about this excellent toy! After purchasing this toy and being so impressed by both the durability and fun-quotient, we're planning to purchase a number of other Little People playsets. We've just purchased the Noah's Ark set as a Christmas present, so once it's opened, I'll post my detailed review for it, though I'm certain it will be a 5 star-worthy toy!

One last note...the toy is a favorite with the other children that I babysit as well (ranging in age from 11 months to 4 years old). Everyone wants to play with the Little People farm when they come to my house. It has earned the honor of being the only toy to be stored downstairs (in the living room) because it is played with so frequently!

My son got this barn on his first birthday and has had so much fun with it! The animals and people are the perfect size for little hands, and all of the sounds are easy for him to find on the toy. This toy really does grow with the child. He initially just pressed the buttons to make the animal noises and to make the music play. He eventually graduated to putting the animals where they belonged, and I imagine that as he gets older, he will have lots of pretend play on the farm. The Fisher Price Little People toys simple do not disappoint.

We got this for my twin boys' first birthday. Now they are almost 3, and it still sits in the "cool toys" section!! At first, they loved seeing what sounds it made, then they stepped up to actually putting the animals in the correct places to match the sounds, and now, they are able to make up stories and actually play for quite a while with it (when they aren't fighting over it). It is still in the same condition it was when we bought it, even with 2 rough boys that throw it around everyday!

My 1 yr old LOVED playing with this toy. The animals all stand on buttons that when you push them make their sounds. You can move the animals out and play with them, of course, and push the buttons without the animals standing on them as well. He really enjoyed being able to make the animal talk and copying them, thereby learning their sounds. Wears like iron. You will pass it down to your next kids or to a friend.

My son got the Little People Farm for his first birthday. He's now 14 months and not a day in the last 2 months has gone by when he's not spent a good portion of his morning sitting in front of his farm and playing happily. The animals are just the perfect size for little hands - in fact, the lamb takes a few tours of our house during the day. The animal sounds are easy to operate and in fact, there isn't a single animal on that farm, my son can't imitate now and has infact, taken to calling those animals by their sounds. (In otherwords, the lamb is not a lamb its baaa!) He also own the Noah's Ark set and adores playing with that as well. For Christmas we will most certianly invest in other Little People items!

I remember having this toy as a kid-unfortunately at the time I did, all mine farm did was go "MOOO" when you opened the barn door-and my Little People were made out of wood and were bald.
I still had a blast with it for many years despite. When I saw the latest version I HAD to get it for my kids-they absolutely love it-I bought it over 3 years ago and to this day they both still play with it-good ole' Little People. No kid should be without. Very durable and safe for even the tiniest of hands-no worries about putting small pieces in their mouths either.

This was a present for my son's first birthday. He is now almost 2 and still likes to play with his farm. I very often see him sitting or lying on his stomach in front of it. I believe that this toy helped him with animal identification as well as which animal makes which sound. I also think that this toy can help with dexterity/fine motor skills a bit because of how the windmill, scarecrow, and yellow rooster can be placed just so around the farm and by learning how to spin the windmill, rotate the crops, and even flip the farmer out of his bed.

My son gets a big kick out of playing peek-a-boo through the door and window of the barn (I'm on one side of the barn, he's on the other), especially when I knock on the door and he opens it. He favors playing the music to playing the animal sounds, but there's nothing wrong with the sound quality of either. He absolutely loved it when he learned how to flip the farmer out of bed. Lots of giggles over that trick. He even started experimenting with flipping the other characters out of bed as well. Some work, some are too big, but he has fun trying.

Because he's played so well and so often with this toy, he is getting a few other Little People sets for Christmas.

The only negetives I have:
My son is not at all interested in rotating the crops, although I imagine other children my love it. And, I had to give 3 stars for durability because my son broke part of the white fence from the green base.

This has proven to be a great present. Our second son loves it as much as our first did. Lots of features and not too loud.

My son just received this for his first birthday. We I opened the package I was skeptical he was old enough to play with it. Boy, was I wrong. We had to take it out of the box right away so he could explore. He played with it for most of the rest of his party and it was the only toy he wanted to play with the next day. He loves taking the animals our of their designated places and putting them elsewhere. He likes making them go through the main barn doors, then pulling them back out again. He also likes putting them in through the roof. I don't think he really notices the sounds just yet, but it isn't loud or overbearing so I leave it on for him. When we play together, I try to teach him what sounds the different animals make, but honestly he'd much rather chew on the animals and make up his own games with them than listen to me play teacher. I can really see his imagination soaring with this one. I've put the little "baby animals" expansion pack on his wish list for Christmas. Perhaps Santa will bring it for him.
