I loved my Fisher Price Little People castle so I was very excited to buy this for my daughter's second birthday.
I was a little disappointed in the castle when compared to the farm and the house, which she had received for her first birthday and for Christmas. Whereas the house and farm have several different sounds, the castle only makes one sound: a fanfare. I thought there might be a clipclop over the bridge or something else, since the sets are similar in price and size. B/c there aren't a lot of sounds associated with this toy, it's good for quieter play and gets a child to use his/her imagination as to what sounds would be associated with a castle. On the flip side, your child might be like mine and push the flags* over and over and over... That being said, the castle is extremely cute. The two "towers" open up for play (although I miss the staircase and "hidden chamber" from the 1970s version). The dungeon can also serve as a stable for the dragon. *he fanfare comes when you press the flags atop the castle, the throne juts out onto the balcony and the fanfare plays. If you don't secure the king/queen in the throne, he/she goes flying out, which is terribly funny (for parent and child). Another great thing about the castle set is that there are several cute "add-ons" like Sir Lance-A-Little, the fair maiden and the watchful woodsman. The castle also takes up less space than the farm and about the same space as the house. All in all it's a good toy for an older toddler who's more into role play or the Little People rather than pushing buttons and hearing sounds. If you're looking for a Little People set for a younger child, you might want to choose the house or the farm set. They have more buttons to push and make more noises (the volume level is quite low on all three of these sets, esp. when compared to other toys I've looked at) which was more satisfying for my child early on.

My three-year-old son loves his castle. He received it for his 2nd birthday and still plays with it almost every day. It is a nice alternative to the Little People House playset that is very gender specific. It allows the same role-play (with the table, bed, etc.) without the stigma of being a "girlie" toy. I wish fisher price would make the house gender neutral. The pink and purple colors tend to turn away parents of boys. The sounds of this castle are fun. The trumpets play when the flag is pushed as if announcing the royal couple's arrival. A fun toy.

I got Little People happy and decided to buy my son nearly every new set that is available for his first birthday and second Christmas, which were within two weeks of each other. He hasn't spent a great amount of time with this toy--largely due to him having a billion toys--but when he does, I can tell he's having fun with it. He really loves to place the horses through the drawbridge, and the King on the throne. He also likes to put King and Queen on the horse or have them sit down to eat. Too cute.
What it comes with: 1 King 1 Queen 1 Horse 1 Dragon 1 Table and chairs set 1 Bed And of course all the fences and posts and such, but I personally think those are just a pain. The Little People sets are a little hard to connect especially when you are trying to connect 10-20 in a room, because you have to connect them a certain way and then are forced to arrange them awkwardly so you can get to everything if you're not in a huge space. So, I'm not sure what fence pieces come with it because I threw them in the closet. Special Features: There really aren't many features to this one. When you press the flag atop the castle, the throne will come forward and the torches light up and also fanfare. But, that is it. I wish it did a little something more. I'm all about "imagination toys", but if it's going to do one thing, it might as well have a little something extra to it or nothing at all. I was really into Polly Pockets when I was a little girl and I loved how they lit up in certain rooms of the home, etc. It's just a nice touch. Overall, I think this is a cute toy that your child will enjoy.

It is difficult to find a toy all of my children can play with together,(ages 18mos, 6 and 8 years), but this toy is just that. I bought the whole set, including the watchful woodsman and night at the ball, and they are all in there happy as can be. I keep hearing the trumpet, and the baby is screaming with laughter.

I have 3 children....all girls. Twins that just turned 2 and a 10 month old. This is a really fun set for either boys or girls. I love the Little People playsets because all three can play and I don't have to worry too much about tiny pieces for the youngest to swallow like in others. But the castle theme is just neat because it lets them become more creative. Most of the other LP sets they have they often imitate what they see in real life. In this one they love the "dragon" and "knight" and get into some really intreasting conversations with each other. I keep it in their bedroom and they play with it every day. A great investment! I also love how well these LP playsets hold up. Very sturdy and durable.

My now 2 1/2 year old received this for Christmas, but we never opened it b/c she received the "infamous" Dora Talking Dollhouse! She "discovered" this in the basement and started to get really worked up for her Castle and Princess!! She is now really into princess make believe, so we opened it up!!! She got the Maiden Mary, Sir Lance a Little, and Watchful Woodsmen sets as well. SHE LOVES IT!!!! She loves to push the flag and make the trumpet sound and lower the drawbridge. I think her 8 year old sister, and 6 year old brother love it just as much as she does. As usual, Fisher Price Little People are just great! She loves all her little people, but this is fast becoming her favorite!!! It is the quality and durability that one comes to expect with the Little People name!! A great investment for years to come!! I wouldn't hesitate to purchase any little people items, they have staying power, and are timeless!!!!

I am always so excited when new Little People collections come out. I swear I think I like them more than my kids! This is the first one we bought for my almost 2 year old. It's really a great toy, not too girlie, and not too boyish. He's a little bit young to get everything out of it, but each day he learns more and more about imaginative play. His older brother is almost 5 and STILL plays with every Little People toy we've ever purchased. He especially likes the little dragons in this one and the accessory set we got. I love the horse and the balcony.
Any toy that keeps my child's interest for as long as these do is tops in my book. Only complaint about this one - the stickers ripped off very easily. First time they didn't last at least a week! I recommend this and ALL Little People toys for any child 1 1/2 to at least 5.

My parents just got this for my dd for Christmas. While it is true that the only sound is the fanfare, compared to the Little People airport or farm, I don't find that to be such a bad thing. I don't think every toy should have programmed sounds to it. Especially after my MIL bought the Discovery City two years ago and the special sounds never worked properly. Fortunately, that is a rare occurrence with Fisher Price products.
One thing I like about this toy is the minimal assembly--just a few items need to be screwed in. This is great for me when it will need to be packed back up and stored away in it's box. By contrast, the airport had alot of snap together pieces which I could not undo later on. As usual, the toy is very durable and well constructed. It would be nice for the pieces to fit nicely into the castle though. The bed for example, doesn't really go anywhere neatly. But for me that's a minor disappointment. My DD already is saying "King" and "queen", and using her imagination. I'll definitely be getting the additional sets for this.

Maybe it is just a problem with the one I got, but when my daughter or I push the flag to play the fanfare, if the king is sitting on the swinging thrown, he shoots out of the palace like he has been blasted from a rocket! Its is also hard for big and small hands alike to get the LP into the thrown in the 1st place.
Additionally, the LP do not sit well in the horse as they do other vehicles and you have to move it very carefully if you want them to "ride" the horse. My child seems to get a little upset over these issues, and if your child is particular and frustrates easily I could see these small things bothering them. This set, in my opinion is overal not as sturdy as the other LP sets. We've had it out 24 hours and the the yellow fence that encloses the stable is MIA already. I did buy the Lance A Little set (horse is that set seats the LP nicely, they don't fall out) and the Maid Marian set and both are played with. Over all the castle has (atleast temporarily) replaced the house, and my daughter enjoys placing the people all around the castle. She likes the lights and fanfare, but doesn't bother trying to play with the "deffective" pieces anymore.

My daughter loves this castle! She can push the flag down herself to hear the trumpets sound & watch the door open. She also enjoys the horse w/ this set- it trots all over our house. Overall, well worth it; we're very satisified!
