I have been a pony collector for as long as I can remember, and becuase I was born in 1983 MLP has been around for even longer :). While these ponies are in the same style as the old ones I think it is my job to say that they are not *just* like the older ones you may remember. The colors are much darker than they first were, more bright colors than the pastel shades. This is most true in the case of Minty and Blossom. Also, their tails are very thin so there is not as much hair to brush :\ All and all these sets are great if you are not very picky or don't remember their colors well, but a true MLP collector may want to see them first before buying :). I myself am getting a set, my childhood Minty needs a friend :).

I had every My Little Pony Hasbro made when I was a kid, and I was so excited to see the remakes of the original 6 ponies. Unfortunately I STILL have some of my originals from the 80s to compare, and the remakes aren't exactly remakes. The colors are much brighter and the markings are not the exacty same designs- some are larger, some smaller. The eyes are also bigger like the newer G3 ponies. BUT... how cute! They certainly are adorable, and I am so glad my little girls got the chance to own and love them. For a collector, maybe stick with the originals. I'm not a collector, just someone who remembers how much fun they were - and little girls still love them! Mine do. As cute as the G3 ponies are, they don't come close to the 1980's G1 ponies!

Cute, but they fall on their faces..., February 8, 2008
This review is from: My Little Pony Original 1983 My Little Pony Collection 1 (Toy)
My daughter received these for Christmas, and they are certainly cute and remind me of the ones I played with as a child. However, I'm surprised nobody has mentioned how they are front-heavy and unstable on their feet. I can't, for the life of me, get them to stand up on carpet. All three just fall straight forward onto their noses. On a flat surface like tile, our Blue Belle and Cotton Candy just barely balance, but our Butterscotch still nose-dives. Perhaps it's just our particular set, but that seems unlikely. Luckily my 18 month old doesn't care about standing them up.
