Opening the cover of any new book comes with a feeling of great anticipation, however, the thought of seeing how Exupery's art would be made into pop-up cut-outs accelerated that feeling into one of almost surreal joy. Fortunately, I wasn't disappointed. The illustrations are beautifully rendered and the quality of the materials are to be appreciated. I especially am grateful that the story is completely unabridged, leaving the words and the feelings to carry on to work their magic for years to come.

I've purchased an additional five copies to give as collectible gifts to others whom I know love this tale of life, love and death. It is certainly a must-have edition for any collector of pop-up books, classic children's tales or philosophical classics. I cannot recommend it highly enough.

I was initially a bit skeptical when I heard that my favorite book would be published in a pop-up edition. I've always felt that many pop-up books are more novelty than a genuine expression or variation of one of the oldest art forms. Being that The Little Prince is my favorite book, however, I purchased it anyway.

I must admit that part of my skepticism came from my doubts about how well the simple and elegant illustrations from this classic would translate into pop-up art. Were they detailed enough? Interesting or intricate enough to make it worth it? I had thought, in my sadly limited imagination, that the illustrations would not make awe-inspiring pop-ups. As you've already surmised, I was sorely mistaken.

The book, presented unabridged (thank God!) adds another dimension to an already deep and beautiful story. To see the book and its unforgettable characters come to life is a delight. Even some of the more simple illustrations get lifted to another level by the clever designer(s) who had a hand in this book. My favorite passage is Chapter VI when the Little Prince reveals to our narrator how he loves sunsets and once saw forty-four in one day. The chapter is brief and sad, and the illustration that accompanies it equally so. To be able to make the sun set myself (and then to watch it rise again on the other side of his planet) was an exercise in simple joy.

If you love this story or know someone who does, I highly recommend this book. The pop-up pages aren't a novelty; they're an extension of an already treasured and lovely story for both children AND grown-ups.

i bought this for my 6yr old grandchild. it's the type of book to keep forever. beautifully illustrated am thinking of buying one for my self. good buy

Excellent!!!!!! Both in the translation of the story and the paper engineering. Not for young children, but great for middle school and up.

Bought this for a friend who is a huge fan and collector of this book. We both LOVED it! The book is beautiful and true to the original illustrations. I really cant think of anything negative about this purchase.

This is actually a new English translation (2003) by Richard Howard from the original french story "Le petit prince". I completely agree with all of the current reviews. This is a book to treasure forever. I read the original french version in high school, and while no translation can ever exactly convey the sentiments of the original language, I think that this is going to be seen as the definitive English version for some time to come. As others have said, the popup version really brings the story to life. It's almost two inches thick and it's a real quality item. I also ordered two copies - one for myself and another as a gift. This is the type of book that is not going to stay in print forever, so I recommend that you get your copy while supplies last. Petit Prince, je veux te dire que je t'aime!

I cannot stop raving about the sheer gorgeousness of this wonderful book, a favorite of mine for at least 40 years. This pop- up book is so cleverly and beautifully done, with little panels to open as well as the pop-ups themselves. Even if I had had to pay the full price for it, it would have been worth it....I am actually surprised that the full price was only $35 as the detailing is so extensive.

This book will be treasured ---and read and re-read.

I bought this book as sort of treat to myself & my son, who is only five months old, since it was on sale at a closing book store. I worried that it wouldn't live up to the price tag, but decided that since it was unabridged, it was worth it simply as an over-sized edition of The Little Prince.

However, the pop up illustrations really are worth the price of admission, & more! They are the original illustrations, brought to life beautifully. Some are more impressive than others, & a few have flimsy pieces or points that I worry might not hold up over the years. Also, there are a few that are not pop-ups, which also detracted slightly from my rating. At the end, there are many pages of pure text, which is quite dull after experiencing all the amazing pop-ups.

The text is sharp & easy to read, & well-oriented around the illustrations. The binding is pretty sturdy, as is the cover. Definitely a beautiful book to read with your children, & for them to one day read to their own.

This is a very beautiful book. The pop-up constructions are not as interactive as some pop-up books, but nonetheless rise from the page dramatically and bring this wonderful story to life.

The Little Prince is my favorite book in the world, and this version was perfect for introducing it to my 9 year old son.

The translation is more modern and not as emotionally impacting as the untouchable Katerine Wood version - 'What is essential is invisible to the eye' - but that can be for later, when a child is better attuned to more poetic language styles.

A really poetic instant.
The pop up aren't very spectacular, but they are as may be as Saint Exupery could have love them when he wrote this book.
I am from France, and i missed the french version, that is the reason why i am here !
