We first saw "A Little Princess" on HBO and knew right away that it's a "must add" DVD to our collection, even better...a DVD with two of Frances Hodgson Burnett's classics. Any adult can relate to the two movies here and the stories are beautifully told on film adapted from the books. There are other versions which we haven't see and am pretty sure they're all as good. My girlfriend became very emotional [about Sarah Crewe] and loved it (she's a kid at heart) I'm glad she did, because essentially, I wanted this movie for her because she is my little princess.

The double-featured disc is a great value, but a widescreen format would be a good option, there isn't one despite the description from the case stated that there is both full-screen & widescreen versions: this is pretty misleading because I believe the two formats were meant for the 'Theatrical Trailers' and NOT for the movie if you read carefully along the print. Also, printed inside on the center hub of the disc, it states that both versions are 'Full Screen', by then this is too late to sort out the confusion if you are very particular about having the widescreen format...so I'll minus one star for this making a total 4 out of 5.

Like others here, I was disappointed to find that neither film was presented in the letterbox format despite the claim on the box, so I sent an e-mail to WHV to complain about it. I was told that they would replace what I had with two DVDs covering the individual titles once they received it from me in the mail. I thanked them and suggested they keep the product off the market since the letterboxing mentioned on the cover was incredibly misleading. Shortly after I received the two DVDs, I discovered that "The Secret Garden" and "A Little Princess" had been available in a similar double-feature set but presented on TWO discs instead of one. Apparently some genius in Warner's marketing department came up with the idea of saving money by reducing the two DVDs down to one but neglecting to take into consideration that a format would have to be sacrificed in the process. They just kept the text from the original set's packaging, which is pretty damn lame if you ask me. And to make matters worse, I still see this thing being sold in large quantities at Safeway and Target stores as well as here on Amazon even though WHV obviously know they've got what I consider to be unmarketable merchandise on their hands. At least Amazon lets you know that you're getting the fullscreen format with this one.

A Little Princess, a classic story of a little girls hope, that has been remade several times, is presented in this two disc set.

The secret garden is another classic tale, that has been retold many times.

These movies are presented on 2 double sided DVD's, each one featuring a wide screen and a full screen version.

There are not many special features on the DVD's, but if you just want the movies, then this is the set for you.

Two of my all-time favorite movies on one DVD, with special features and trailers to boot - could it get any better? I argue, it cannot!

I first saw this movie in the theaters with my then 5-yr-old daughter. The movie is a rich mixture of adventure, fun, despair, imagination and love. The movie is visually amazing, the early 20th century brought vividly to life. The score is perfectly composed to heighten the rollercoaster of emotions evoked by Cuaron's story.

I recently watched this movie again with my now 16 year old daughter, and I have a renewed appreciation for this movie. The cinematography, the score, the absolutely awesome cast, make this easily one of the best family movies of all time.

Every father with a daguther should see this movie... it will draw you closer to one another, give her a life affirming message, and entertain you both.

According to my granddaughter anyway. Her mom and dad have rented these movies for her, but she wanted her own copies so she could watch them any time she pleased. I remember seeing The Secret Garden when I was a little girl. I loved it and I'm happy to know that my granddaughter does too.

I am soooo glad that I took a chance and ordered this item anyway, even after reading the reviews on this page! The widescreen is available on the flip side of the DVD. So this turns out to be a great buy!

To begin, yes its true, this release does not include the widescreen format but thats not why you are reading this review, you want to know if these films are great, and the answer is a resounding Yes!!

Beginning with A Little Princess, I passed on watching it for many years ignorant of the fact that it is a true classic. I must give the director Alfonso Cuaron all the credit in the world his vision for this film is pristine. There is symbolism and meaning in every scene. If you are a student of film making, then this is the way it should be done. A Little Princess is a true Art Film, a work of art, and watching it is almost like admiring a fine painting. The music, script, cinematography, and dialogue are nearly perfect and the emotional impact of the film is intense. My advice would be to watch it several times and gauge how it operates on different emotional, spiritual, and mythical levels. I always found Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban to be the best of the Potter films and it is now no surprise that it was directed by the same man responsible for A Little Princess.

The Secret Garden is also a fine film, written by the same author, both films share a common theme of a young child raised in India whose lives are suddenly uprooted. The substance of the film centers on how they deal with the curveballs life throws at them. The story here is not as complex as A Little Princess but it is a pleasure to watch the evolution of the children, the family, and those around them and how they grow as the garden blooms. Simple but still poignant. Most importantly both films are great for adults and children alike.

A Little Princess and the Secret Garden have been favorites in our family for a while. My daughter wore out the video tapes when she was in elementary school. She is now 21. I bought this CD set so we can keep them in the family because my other daughter (8yrs old) loves them as well.

I must say A Little Princess is my all time favorite that I still watch with my youngest daughter and I still cry at the end when Papa cries out for his daughter...SARA!!!

Let me make this clear right from the start. This is a 5 star DVD! The only reason I rated it 1 star was so that this would be read. One reviewer mentioned that the disc has no printing on it, and they only found one movie on it. Dont forget folks, that the disc is dual sided..just turn it over and the other film is on that side. Also, even though it says "both widescreen and 4X5 versions", it sadly seems like all we get are the 4X5 versions of each film.
