My mother bought this book for my son, to start a new family tradition. Every Christmas, my mother would read me the Poky Little Puppy and now she reads this book to her Grandson.

It is cute to see what trouble the puppies and The Poky Little Puppy get into while trying to have a good Christmas. I would really recommend getting this book, plus the other Poky Little puppy book, a great collection to have.

The Poky Little Puppy's First Christmas is a Little Golden Book that teaches a great big lesson about the spirit of Christmas and selfless acts!

It's wonderfully written, adorably illustrated and any child (or adult) who reads it will come away with a wonderful, warm feeling. This is, indeed, a very special book to share with the children in your life.

I recently purchased this book as a gift for a friend's new baby. I LOVE this book. It is one of my favorites from my own childhood and I pull out my copy from the 70's out and read it every year. I consider this book a must have for children.

I grew up with a book by this title, and decided to buy it for my daughter. Although the title is the same, this is not the same book. The book I had when I was a kid was about puppies that jumped the fence and went into town despite their mother telling them not to. They eventually decide to celebrate Christmas, and write a letter to Santa asking for presents. Of course, they are reminded that Santa only visits good little puppies who mind their mother. So they alter their letter to be less selfish.
This is a completely different story about a skunk and a boot. It's still a good story, but not the one I was looking for. If you're like me and you're looking for the old version, you'll need to find it used.

Very cute Christmas story book, but not the same illustrator as original story book, so just be ready for less nostalgia. Still very cute for little ones, my 18 month old loves it. Story has social educational value.

Darling little book with sweet illustrations. My 1 and 1/2 year old thoroughly enjoyed having it read to her through the Christmas season.

In The Poky Little Puppy's First Christmas, the poky little puppy learns about the meaning of Christmas. "The best gifts are the ones you give." After reading that line, my six-year-old daughter said, "Not for me!," which made me realize I should be reading it to her a lot more often! However, it gave us the opportunity to discuss "giving" and what Christmas is really about. The Poky Little Puppy's First Christmas is in our selection of holiday books we will get out and read every year!

Got this for my grandson as one of many 'first' Christmas books. Although he's still very little, he seemed to enjoy the story.

I remember the Pokey Little Puppy from my childhood - can't go wrong with this classic!

I just turned 63 and the first and most lasting book memory in my mind, is my Mother buying me The Poky Little Puppy and reading it to me over and over. I had no idea that The Poky Little Puppy's First Christmas existed; until now. Like the anniversary edition I purchased this for my first and only grandchild. I loved this story (I read it first) and like the original the illustrations are wonderful. As soon as my granddaughter gets closer to reading (she's only a year old) She will receive both copies and grandpa will read them to her as my Mother read to me.
