Not as bad as everyone says!!!!, January 23, 2008
This review is from: Little Queen Volume 1 (Paperback)
Ok, first off...YES this is NOT perfect! But after reading it, I don't see how it only has 1 star!!!!
The story is about June, a candidate to be the next "Queen of Light." She's not very motivated, can be rather annoying at times, and doesn't think things through, but she's not that bad. She has a childhood friend Sejuru, for whose sake she decides she wants to be queen. I guess the story will end up being about how she beats her rivals (such as Lucia) to become the Queen of Light. Parts were kind of confusing. Flashbacks cut in and out of the story in (what seemed to be) random moments. But if you take your time, it makes sense. It's true that at times it's hard to figure out WHO is talking, I'm not sure if this is due to the translation or if it has always been like that, but it can be a little distracting. However, that did NOT stop me from enjoying it, and if you read it more than once (which I always do, what's the point of buying something if you aren't going to read it a lot?) it makes more sense.
There are a LOT worse manga out there, which seem to be really popular. So I'd say if you want to read something fun, with BEAUTIFUL artwork (all of Yeon-Joo Kim's works are beautiful, and this is no exception) then give this a chance! I thought the references to some popular anime were really fun, too. (such as the Neon Genesis Evangelion reference....as a fellow EVA fan, it was quite amusing, there are other references as well, such as a Sailor Moon one)
I'm about to read volume 2, and maybe the story will never improve. Still, I found it fun. If nothing else, the art is gorgeous. It's not as good as Platina (another manhwa by Yeon-Joo Kim) but it's not that bad either, but it'll probably take a reread or two to really understand what was going on.

Little Queen.., June 12, 2008
This review is from: Little Queen Volume 1 (Paperback)
In fact,I am a fan of Yeon Joo Kim and I read this book both
in Korean and English. When this book came out in English,
I was really interest and i bought this.
However, I was really surprised how the translation was HORRIBLE.
The translation didn't make any sense and it even made me angry.
I think that is why many people rated this book as a one star.
Actually, this book is one of the popular and famous manhwa in Korea
and a lot of people really like this book.
Althougt it didn't win, it was one of the candidate for best Korean
manhwa competition. Many people consider this book as a beautiful
artwork with a cute and beautiful story.
It is ture that even some of the Koreans said that
this book is hard to read or understnad, but many people
understood this book including me.
The way Yeon Joo Kim writes the story confused me when i was young, but
i can understand now as i get older.
If this book had a better translation, many people
will be amazed of this beautiful manhwa.

A Kid's Review
This review is from: Little Queen Volume 1 (Paperback)
I didn't really like this book. The art is a bit messy, you can't really tell who's saying what, and the story is kind of confusing.I bought it
because I heard it was good but now I'm going to return it.It was kind of
bad.(I'm a girl who's 12.I pick the kid's review because it's easier.)
