5.0 out of 5 stars KIDS OF ALL AGES LOVE THIS ONE.
This is one of the funniest, most amusing and quirky little children's books I have ever had the pleasure of reading. I can tell you truthfully, I have yet to read this to a kid that did not like it and either giggle or smirk over the thing. The song, Little Rabbit Foo Foo has been around for years but this work was first published in 1990.

3.0 out of 5 stars They changed the book!
The book adds a lot to the song -- the illustrations mix a motorbike, little folk, tigers, and the birds from Dumbo and make every page worth examining. The story is great.

The only thing that bugs me is this isn't the version I read in the library! That version has her turn him into a goon, which is so much better! The way I read (try saying it out loud),...

5.0 out of 5 stars KIDS OF ALL AGES LOVE THIS ONE., August 25, 2010
This review is from: Little Rabbit Foo Foo (Paperback)
This is one of the funniest, most amusing and quirky little children's books I have ever had the pleasure of reading. I can tell you truthfully, I have yet to read this to a kid that did not like it and either giggle or smirk over the thing. The song, Little Rabbit Foo Foo has been around for years but this work was first published in 1990.

The story consists of a small rotten little rabbit. This little guy has a large hand-held net, a large wooden mallet and a motorcycle. The delinquent little bunny spends his days riding around the forest scooping up various critters such as field mice, wriggly worms, tigers and finally goblins, and then bopping them all on the head with his hammer. Needless to say, Little Bunny Foo Foo is not a very popular member of the forest community.

Finally the Good Fairy comes down and warns the little rabbit bully that he has three chances to mend his ways or she will turn him into a goon! Well of course the little guy does not listen, develops an attitude and keep right on riding and bopping. He goes over the line and reaps his just reward.

The text is extremely catchy and you will find yourself and the kids humming it and wording it even when the book is not being read.

"Little Rabbit Foo Foo
riding through the forest,
scooping up the wriggly worms
and bopping them on the head."

The art work by Arthur Robins is quite good enough to stand alone even without the wonderful words of the author. Each picture is very unique and you can spend a lot of time just discovering little details that you missed during previous readings. The expression on Bunny's face and all of the forest creatures is absolutely delightful.

This is one of those books that children will carry with them in their heads for a life time.

About the only people who will not be fond of this work are adult who take themselves too serious and are in sore need of a sense of humor. The kids certainly get it anyway.

And yes, the book I am reading here is the version where the rabbit is actually turned into a "goon" rather than a "goonie," and this is the version with the wonderful closing line of "The moral of the story: Hare today, goon tomorrow!" In some newer editions this has been changed which is a true pity.

4.0 out of 5 stars Naughty little rabbit., January 9, 2000
This review is from: Little Rabbit Foo Foo (Paperback)
This is one of the funniest books I have read as a child and that I read to my children. It is about a rabbit whole boops animals on the head and is given three chances by the goo fairy to change. If he doesnt he gets turned into a goonie. Well little nauty rabbit foo foo doesnt listen and ends up being a goonie. Great pictures and theme that can be played like a song.

5.0 out of 5 stars The funniest children's book ever, April 5, 1998

If you don't like this book you have no sense of humor :) The expressions on Little Rabbit Foo Foo's evil face are hysterical. Despite repeated warnings from the Good Fairy to change his attitude or be turned into a "goonie" Little Rabbit Foo Foo remains irrepressibly naughty.

The book adds a lot to the song -- the illustrations mix a motorbike, little folk, tigers, and the birds from Dumbo and make every page worth examining. The story is great.

The only thing that bugs me is this isn't the version I read in the library! That version has her turn him into a goon, which is so much better! The way I read (try saying it out loud), "I'm gonna turn you into a goon!" is so much more fun to say than "I'm gonna turn you into a goonie." And they had to remove the "hare today, goon tomorrow" punchline. What the heck? I just read it my way, including narrating the transformation from rabbit to goon like this: "Rabba-rabba-rabba-rabba-GOON!!!!!" It's just not the same with "goonie." Bad move.

This was one of my favorite books when I was little. I got it for my sons who are 4 and 1 and they just love it. My oldest memorized it after the first time I read it and he "reads" it to his little brother it's the cutest thing I've ever seen. I'm so glad I bought this book for them.

My granddaughter wanted me to read this over and over again. It has a rhythmn to it that captivates children. She loved the pictures, too.

Became my son's favorite book! Actually helped to get him interested in enjoying to read! After this book he went on to love the Diary of a wimpy kid series so check those out too, if you have boy who "hates" reading!

I had previously used this book in my classroom while working with preschoolers, and loved it so much that I decided to purchase it. My 2yr old daughter absolutely loves it. Whenever I read it to her, I do so in the form of a little tune. She is now able to go through the entire story, page by page on her own.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun for all ages, March 4, 2008

I bought this book long ago from Scholastic. I have raised 4 children to this book. We enjoy fun sounds and storyplay along with the traditional rhythm. I brought this book into our elementary school's read-along and even the older children enjoyed the story. The last time I shared this book with a 5th grade class, the story (and song) lasted over a week during lunch and recess, with many 5th graders from other classes enjoying the 'good fairy' as well. Many children today don't get to go to summer camp and learn the old tunes we grew up with. I find myself looking to buy another copy because our old paperback can only last so long! I highly recommend this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Rabbit to Goonie, February 5, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Little Rabbit Foo Foo (Paperback)
A hilarious story that my son could 'read' before he was three because he knew the words off by heart! The pictures are wonderful and the good fairy sorts out the naughty rabbit in the end by turning him into a goonie (sort of green and small!) One of my favourites too!
