Mama is going to have a baby and Little Rabbit is so excited that he hops and skips all the way to the hospital. But when Mama has three babies, things don't go exactly as Little Rabbit has imagined. Triplets! Papa has to sit down and have a cup of tea!

Little Rabbit wants to be the best brother a baby could have, but the new bunnies don't even know how to play. They can't catch a ball, they throw the breakfast carrots on the floor--and they sure do sleep a lot. Then they start following Little Rabbit everywhere, getting their sticky paws all over his toys--and they almost break Charlie Horse! But worst of all, when Little Rabbit scolds those pesky bunnies, they start to cry--and Mama gets upset at him. "Those babies are all she thinks about now," he says. "It's not fair!"

From the satiny-feel of the cover with its blue Swiss-dotted edging, to the delightfully whimsical artwork and touching story, this book is a true pleasure to hold and to read. The charming watercolor line drawings are just plain adorable and tell a story of their own. One two-page illustration in particular is especially fabulous, with its dozens of babies (two and three--and twelve--bunnies to a bed or cradle), tired mamas, harried nurses, a papa bearing a flower bouquet--and Little Rabbit in his light blue "onesie" in the midst of it all, shouting, "Mama! Where's my new baby?"

There is just enough humor and mischief here to keep this tender tale from becoming cutesy or cloying. A timeless theme presented in an original and entertaining way; children will easily relate to the feelings of rivalry and possessiveness that bringing home a new baby can evoke. And all will be warmed and heartened by Little Rabbit's solution to his vexing dilemma.

This is a book that teachers, parents and, of course, children, will readily cozy up to.

The final book in the award-winning series by the late Scotsman, Henry Horse, LITTLE RABBIT'S NEW BABY is an excellent choice for any school or library.

My preschooler and I are always on the lookout for new Little Rabbit books, and this one is a delight! The illustrations are gorgeous as always and author-illustrator Harry Horse does a good job with the text - the writing is simple and apt for young readers.

In this latest offering in the series, Little Rabbit finds himself the big brother of three new siblings - he gets so excited and jumps right into his new role with much gusto, be it 'feeding' the babies, playing with them etc. Unfortunately, Little Rabbit learns that babies can't really do all the things that older rabbits do and the lesson here is one of adapting to changes with the arrival of babies into a household.

This is a perfect story for little ones who are awaiting the arrival of new siblings, and also for preschoolers and early readers.

I absolutely love this book! I just wish I'd known about it while I was expecting. The kiddos can't get enough of me reading it to them about our newest little "bunnies".
