4.0 out of 5 stars Little Rabbit's Loose Tooth
I bought this lovely book for my grandson after he lost his first tooth, but haven't given it to him yet at the request of his parents. Little Rabbit is pretty self-aware for someone so young. She is not sure if she is going to buy into the Tooth Fairy story. So if you want a child to absolutely believe in the Tooth Fairy, no questions asked, please keep in mind that the...

2.0 out of 5 stars A sweet book, but it busted the myth...
Okay - I agree with the other reviewers - sweet, nice illustrations, humorous, and thought-provoking... so, beware. If your kid is starting to wonder about the whole tooth fairy thing, this book pretty much busts the myth. At least it did for my little one. In the book's favor, it is a gentle and sweet way to bust the myth (it beats hearing it from an obnoxious older...

This was such a joy to find! When my child lost the first tooth I looked every where for this book but couldn't find it. Within the past two weeks I found it here. Once the book arrived I read it to my child & my husband. Both loved it as much as I do. If you can get a copy of this hard to find book I would encourage you to do so. You won't be sad as you explain to your little one where their teeth go once the tooth fairy picks it up.

The is one if the books I loved as a child, and someday if I have a child, I will be reading this to her/him! I remember getting lost in the illustrations...and reading it again now, it has a lot of humor.

5.0 out of 5 stars Classic story, great to read the kids, January 26, 2007
By
This was the first book that my wife learned to read as a girl. Now we read it to our little girls. I had forgotten how funny the story is both for the kids and the adult reader.

A Kid's Review
This review is from: Little Rabbit's Loose Tooth (School & Library Binding)
I enjoyed reading this book about her loosing her first tooth. It is a good book to read, because it makes you think about when you lost your first tooth. In the story, little rabbit looses her first tooth and doesnt really know what to do with it. Her mom tells her about the tooth fairy. She still is not sure if she wants to put it under her pillow or not. If you read the book, you will find out what she does with the tooth.

If your kid is starting to wonder about the whole tooth fairy thing, this book pretty much busts the myth. At least it did for my little one. In the book's favor, it is a gentle and sweet way to bust the myth (it beats hearing it from an obnoxious older school-mate like I did oh so long ago...). But, if you and your child are enjoying the tooth-fairy game, I'd wait on reading this.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for younger ones, August 17, 2011

My 4 y/o had to get his two front teeth pulled, and I was not at all prepared to face this milestone 1-2 years ahead of schedule. Especially with no one else around him who's lost their teeth, the whole idea was new to him. I was so thankful to have heard about this book. It was a sweet and lovely way to explain the basics, to calm some concerns/fears a toddler may have, and also to introduce the whole idea of "tooth fairies." I loved that there was a bit of mystery about the existence of tooth fairy. Compared to another book I had bought, "Truman's Loose Tooth," this was by far the better book, esp for younger children.

5.0 out of 5 stars Unique & Well Done, June 10, 2011
So much to love about this book. I love particularly the way the characters relate to each other: respectful, warm, and just a tad cheeky, while remaining clearly warm & respectful. Very fun. The honesty in their conversations is sweet & refreshing.
I don't care for the new book cover, though the illustrations are wonderful throughout.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful book that allows your child to think above and beyond the narrowness of traditional tooth fairy storytelling., October 20, 2010
By
Our copy is an original one (absolutely charming drawings which I wish they'd kept in the newer edition) and it is my three-year-old daughter's favorite book even though she is nowhere near losing a tooth anytime soon.

I love this book because the author doesn't want to lead the child in any one direction. Rather, she wants the child to think for him/herself whether they believe in the tooth fairy or not... and what to do with the tooth.

Baby rabbit has a few ideas for what the tooth fairy does with her tooth. She thinks up three scenarios (all of which my daughter thinks are "silly"):

1) "'I think she will save my tooth and give it to a baby rabbit that was just born, and that's how little baby rabbits get their teeth. Do you think that, Daddy?'"

2) "'Or,' said Little Rabbit, 'I think she will put my tooth up in the sky because it is such a shiny tooth, and that's how starts get made. Do you think that, Daddy?'"

3)"'Really,' said Little Rabbit, 'I think she says a magic spell and she turns the tooth into a penny...'"

Ultimately, Little Rabbit asks her mother to "sneak" something under her pillow in case the tooth fairy doesn't - but not to tell her whether she did or not.

The next morning Little Rabbit wakes up and...

I absolutely love this book; it will be one of the very few books that I'll keep for my daughter. And by the way, my daughter's belief in the tooth fairy is not diminished in the slightest.
