About the Author
Lisbeth Zwerger was born in Vienna, where she later studied at the Academy of Art. Internationally renowned as one of the finest contemporary illustrators of children's literature, Zwerger chose "The Gift of the Magi" as the first American story she illustrated.
Mirjam Pressler won the German Youth Literature Prize in 1994 for the body of her work. A translator and biographer of Anne Frank, she lives in Germany and Israel.
Elizabeth D. Crawford's translations have won many prizes, including the 1998 Batchelder Award for "The Robber and Me," by Josef Holub (Holt).
Wilhelm Grimm and his brother Jacob are famous for their classical collection of folk songs and folktales, especially for Children's and Household Tales, generally known as Grimm's Fairy Tales.
