This is a lovely doll for the adult collector - lots of detail sewn into the outfit and a beautiful modern face paint. I love that Mattel chose to do a modern gothic line of dolls - sexy and mysterious.

As with most of the Barbie Collector dolls, she has solid legs that are not bendable. Since she's meant for display and not play, that's fine. These dolls are meant to be displayed on a stand. But unlike the cheap barbies, the legs aren't holly and don't knock around.

The quality of her costume is amazing. She has a raw musline undershirt/chemise with lace edging at the collar. The 3/4 sleeves are also capped with black lace and delicate ribbons matching the garters on her stockings. A black velvet corset has lovely lace up ribbons that are tied at the top in a bow. I really like that the ribbons are scale-appropriate for the size of the doll. She has a very interesting puffy skirt with tartan details. The skirt is sewn to the musline undershirt/bodysuit and not really meant to be removed for play. Over the outfit is the fourth layer - a red cape with a rolled up hood. Interestingly, the hood doesn't open - it is rolled and stuffed. Her hair goes over the top of it. And, of course, she has the fishnets with lace at the top and red/black shoes. On the inside of her cape is a barbie collector label.

I think the only distraction is that the skirt does not fit well on my doll. It's too big and bulky.

Her hair is long in back with a loose curl at the ends. She comes with a basket full of goodies appropriate for a forest romp.

The wolf doll is about half the size and equally (if not better) made. I'm not a fan of the plastic head - I do wish it was a ken doll with a removable wolf mask. But other than the plastic (soft vinyl, really) head on the wolf, I really love this set.

As with ALL Barbie Collector dolls, it is intended (and priced) for the adult collector. And I think the adult collector will love her!

My 5 year old daughter loves the story of Little Red Riding Hood, and the actual product is better than shown in picture. The doll is truly beautiful, the eyes are almost seductive

A fun set for collectors, and some hidden undertones. Overall a beautiful doll. Although I bought one, I would agree that these dolls belong online or in a more adult oriented store. I have no problems with Mattel making these, only with the fact that they are sold retail at childrens toy stores. But alas kids always want what they can"t or shouldent have.

I absolutely love this doll, she has the same face mold as Alice in Wonderland Barbie. If you want to buy this doll for a little girl I don't think it will be the best idea because her clothes or not removable. Is more a doll just for collectors to display. She comes with stands for her and for the wolf. I wish Mattel will make Goldilocks doll with this face mold so it will continue this line.

This is a very cute doll! It is quite unique. I love the outfit and the wolf is great! I would definately buy it again!

This doll is really impressive, but I think there's an adult content on the gifset.
But like I said is impressive and well made and detailed.
Its great for the adult collector.

Little Red Riding Hood has always been a tale of symbolism, and a sexually charged one at that. Why someone would take MORE offense to Barbie as a LRRH who looks like she could eat the wolf and still have room for dessert, rather than LRRH as a tiny, defenseless pre-pubescent kindergartner being stalked by a near- werewolf is beyond me. I personally feel more comfortable with this Mattel version of LRRH than the gruesome imagery in the more familier (read: pedaphilic) versions. Anyway...
This is a beautiful doll. Her face and body mold are almost sculptural, her clothing detailed, and her packaging striking. At this price, the value is incomparable. This would make a perfect gift for the teenager whose Mom is still wanting to carry on with the "special doll" gift giving, but wants something a bit hipper and with more edge.
On the flip side, if you have an adult someone in your life who enjoys vintage, or dark fantasy, or fairy tales, punk or urban fantasy, yet really isn't into Barbie...this would make a perfect, unique inexpensive gift that may just be of some value later on.
I think this doll is an investment, just for how truly beautiful it is. I cannot stress enough how vividly detailed and perfectly scaled everything about her is.
Sure, this doesn't belong in the hands of a 3 year old, or a 6, 7, 8 year old. But what collectable does?
I am not certain this was marketed towards little girls, other than being available at toy stores. I mean, where else you gonna buy Barbies?

I find her face to be kinda scary actually and the outfit with those fishnet tights that have a ribbon at the knee just make her look more like a burlesque dancer at the chin chin club in Paris, rather than little red riding hood who was a little girl wandering through the forest to see her grandma. This doll is just very unattractive and I think it is a shame because Mattel usually does a really good job with its barbies in the collector's series. I would file this away as someone at Mattel having had a rather bad case of the un-creatives when making this doll.

Collectors can keep this and keep it out of toystores and away from little girls. They are already getting bombarded by enough images of sexualized young girls.

Modern twist? Modern meaning hyper sexual?

Saw this at a Toys R Us and was shocked. This is so not appropriate for a little girl. Six, twelve or even sixteen. I guess I can understand why a collector would be interested in it, sorta. But keep this away from the kids please. The sexual predator looking wolf just pushes the whole package over the top. This is just twisted.
