Too bad he’s already fallen in love with her.

Charlotte Baldwin has a secret. She fled Philadelphia to escape the sins of her past but someone is following her. 4.0 out of 5 stars A new look at Westerns September 17, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
***Warning: The sex scenes get a bit steamy so I wouldn't just hand it off to your child without flipping through it to be sure you are comfortable with them reading them.***

Have you ever sunk into a story that has you begging for more and has you searching for answers from the first page? That is what I got with Our Little Secrets. The past haunts the present as two people try to move into the future. A quick marriage with no questions asked. A budding and growing love. And a past that refuses to stay under wraps. A great story that will keep you wanting to know more. With depth characters and a story line that is unique in its own but has all the strength to pull you in and not let you up for air. I'm not a fan of Western but this story may change that.

5.0 out of 5 stars Enjoyed in 2 days June 5, 2012

I enjoy reading historical romances and this is only the 4th western one Ive read. I enjoyed the setting and the characters alot. The storyline was good and the sex scenes were nice and steamy without being overdone or taking up the majority of the story. I like that we will be able to read about some of the other yummy guys we met in this story in future stories. I also liked the mystery woven into the storyline without it taking away too much from the general fun of the book.

3.0 out of 5 stars The Hero was a totally annoying May 20, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Our Little Secrets starts out with Charlie finding a new town to settle down in now that she has escaped her step-father and all of the things she had to do in the past. She meets Michael West a very strange man who thinks up a business marriage for the two of them. Charlie agrees to it because she knows it is a way to keep her safe from her past. Along with this agreement they are not suppose to ask each other questions about their past. That seems to be a mistake they both regret asking of each other.

Through out the book I was totally thrown for a loop when it came to finding out the secrets each of them had. It was crazy! I really liked how all of that turned out in the end.

However the lead male drove me nuts. Seriously it was like he had two different personalities, and it just really put me off of the book. One minute he is charming nice man, then he is a total shrimp when it comes to defending his friends against certain people. I just couldn't get past that.

Then the heroine seemed like a total hypocrite at times because she wanted Michael to spill his secrets to her but she wouldn't tell him anything first. Then when he told her how he felt, she didn't respond and left him to figure out things on his own.

I just got really frustrated with the character's in the book so that made it not as good as it could have been to me. Overall it was an okay book, not great but not bad.

4.0 out of 5 stars the truth shall set you free May 21, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Fleeing Philadelphia to escape her demanding stepfather, Charlotte Baldwin found herself in Montana and accepted a marriage proposal from Michael West, a man she just met. Doing so, Charlotte automatically got a new identity as Mrs. West while Michael gets somebody to help him in his store.

Definitely a marriage of convenience; what they did not expect is the chemistry between them. Everything would have been perfect except that both had agreed that they would not ask each other about their past. Unfortunately, the past would haunt them and it had the power to break and separate them.

A steamy love story with suspense woven in, OUR LITTLE SECRETS grabs your attention from the first page to the last. Charlotte and Michael are so lovable. And their friends are very colorful and thus adding a lot of drama in the story. Phineas Bell, a supporting character is worth a mention in this review. His story, though very sad is also inspirational in some degree.

This book is rated M for Mature due to sex and violence

5.0 out of 5 stars Can't Wait for the Next One! June 25, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I am typically not a romance reader, but I really enjoyed this book. The plot is different and the beginning unexpected, it kept me guessing. I really enjoyed the development of the characters as their secrets were revealed throughout the book. The love scenes are steamy and emotionally charged but not overly done. There is a wonderful balance of adventure, history and humanity in this tale and I am excited to read the next one in the series. I hope it comes out soon!

1.0 out of 5 stars Meh to TOO MUCH PC modern social issues May 22, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I'm a sucker for MOC/mail order bride type of books. Especially in historicals.

In my opinion, Ms. Farmer spent WAY too much time and focused WAY too long on a certain issue that wasn't even relevant to the story. It was something I've never read about in a historical so blatant but IMO it just felt like her wanting to tie in current issue topics into a historical. It's a hot button social issue VERY current and media focused right now at least big with the GOP and a general issue that they're very against and it's one with a lot of slurs that irk some so if you want to know read on further or by now I'm sure with the clues I've given you can figure it out on your own

SPOILERS---------------------Trust me and read it.

The big gist of Michael's secret is whether he's really gay or not. Yes, you read that right. If the HERO is gay. Michael ignore the slurs and jabs in his direction when HE'S NOT GAY. And if you don't like slurs know that they're pretty much ALL in here.

When Michael first moved to town he lived with his best friend from Philadelphia Phineas who IS gay and people just automatically assumed to men, one who's definitely a "confirmed bachelor" were lovers. But the fact that this issue is so discussed and woven in this story was completely unnecessary. It just felt like an addition for no reason.

Phil being gay, Michael being assumed gay but not really and Charlotte having a gay uncle so she's "cool" with gay men had NO bearing on the actual plot and/or relationship between the HERO and HEROINE at all.

END SPOILERS-----------------

But the issue is that his best friend is (a best friend who has NOTHING to do with the story) none whatsoever.
