5.0 out of 5 stars A classic must-read for every Kentuckian!, April 16, 1999
By A Customer
John Fox, Jr. created in The Little Shepherd a masterpiece with which most people can identify. First is the result of choices, choosing sides in a civil war for or against your own country. The list goes on with boy-meets-girl, boy-loses-girl, boy-loves-dog, animal-versus-animal, brother-versus-brother (twins), and more. His descriptions of the war and Kentucky rival any anywhere. I constantly recommend it with the observation that "it is one of few books which made me cry at the ending." Why it is not required reading in Kentucky schools is beyond me!

5.0 out of 5 stars little shepherd review, January 18, 2012

My mom read this book as a child and asked me to find it which I readily found on Amazon. Mom loved this book as a child. She is ill and it meant a lot to her to find it and read it again as an adult. Delivery was very timely. Happy with this purchase.

5.0 out of 5 stars Little Shepherd of Kingdom Come by John Fox Jr, September 27, 2001
By A Customer
This book shows the mtn and city people in Kentucky as they go through the Civil War. However, my favorite part is at the end, when young Chad chooses to leave the area and go the westward way, to start all over again. When I was 15, I decided not to marry but rather to start all over again like Chad did. I'm grateful to John Fox Jr for showing me that choice.
