This review is from: A Little Smalltalk (Paperback)
This is a wonderfull little book that not only introduces the reader to object-oriented programming, but also describes the implementaion of a SmallTalk-like language. The book does not cover the more advanced topics of OO programming, but is an excelent tutorial and introduction to OO concepts. The section that covers the implementation of the language provides hard to find insights to how OO languages work at a very low level. Just as learning another spoken language will aid you in understanding the one you speak, reading "A Little Smalltalk" will help in your understanding of OO languages. It belongs on the self of everyone who programs in an object-oriented language. |
