From School Library Journal
PreSchool-Grade 1-When Max, a fuzzy brown bear, sneezes while walking through a patch of dandelions, his friends immediately conclude that he is sick. Unfortunately, their cures only make his condition worse. Compresses, salve, stinkweed broth, and other remedies completely exhaust the "patient," who screams, "Leave me alone!" After a long nap, Max manages to explain that he had been feeling fine before their intervention. Slawski's full-color illustrations of the bear and his various friends are appealing but can't give the slight story enough weight to make the book more than a marginal purchase.Kathy Piehl, Minnesota State University, Mankato
