MORE THAN MEN

He Was No Mere Mortal!

The handsome hunk that stood before P.J. Sheridan expected her to believe he was a leprechaun? She had one word for him: blarney! Only Connor O'Flaherty wove a magical spell about P.J. that stirred her deepest desires.

The skeptic in her wiped the stardust from her eyes—and P.J. was convinced this man was nothing but a con artist. Deep down, though, the woman in her desperately wanted to believe Connor's powers were as potent—and as real—as his kisses. Yet no matter who—or what—he really was, common sense said the man was trouble.

"Whimsical, witty, warm and wonderful—don't miss this book!"—Barbara Bretton

Editorial Reviews

Review

As an investigative reporter who specializes in debunking self-professed mystics and magicians, P.J. Sheridan has seen almost enough phony mysticism to give up her dream of ever witnessing true magic. And meeting Connor O'Flaherty doesn't help. This extraordinary hunk of an Irishman expects her to believe he's a leprechaun. Not just a leprechaun, mind you, but King of the leprechauns-- or the Fae, as he says. But a 90's kind of faerie, one complete with Wall Street investments and private jets. Once she hears Connor's bizarre tale, P.J. makes up her mind to get as far away as she can from this phony. Only she can't. Connor offers to hire her. He wants her to investigate his company's claim that the custom shoes they create contain magic. At the same time, he needs her help to recover his sister's talisman. P.J.'s on the verge of telling Mr. King of the Leprechauns to take a hike, but she needs the money and, she has to admit to herself, she enjoys spending time with this gorgeous man. Besides, she thinks, it won't hurt her bank account to get four or five different articles out of this adventure. For his part, Connor finds himself smitten with this lovely skeptic. Too smitten. He shouldn't be within a million miles of P.J. Sheridan. Even with all the magic at his disposal, Connor can't change the one thing most important. P.J.'s a mortal, and as King of the Fae, Connor's sworn to marry one of his own. P.J. may be the best thing that's ever happened to him, but she won't be in his life for long.Absolutely darling! Ms. McCutcheon does a masterful job of creating magic in our everyday world! I'd take this leprechaun any day, with or without his pot o' gold! Witty dialog that reads like sword play, a charming cast of characters-- even, fast-paced action. A Little Something Extra has it all! Just the thing for a lazy day in front of the fire! You may not believe in the faerie folk before you read Pam McCutcheon's latest, but you will once you're done!Annette Carney -- Copyright © 1994-97 Literary Times, Inc. 4.0 out of 5 stars Fun St. Patty's Day Romance, March 10, 1997
By A Customer
This review is from: A Little Something Extra (More Than Men) (Harlequin American Romance, No 614) (Paperback)
A Little Something Extra is perfect if you are looking for a fun, magical read just in time to get you in the mood for St. Patrick's Day.

P.J. is a freelance investigative reporter with a special interest in magic and psychic phenomena. She has a burning desire to believe in magic but unfortunately cannot find any hard proof that it actually exists. Along comes Connor O'Flaherty, a magical shoe salesmen, who tempts her with a job offer she can't resist. He claims he is not only a leprechaun but also King of all the Fae folk. He needs her help to track down his sister's stolen talisman. Without it his sister is a basket case and his business is in dire trouble.

She doesn't buy his story. Aren't leprechauns little guys with pointy noses that wear silly hats? He is as gorgeous as he is kooky so she weighs out the pros and cons and decides to accept the job. After all if he's nutty enough to pay her to travel around the world who is she to refuse.

They set off together to catch themselves a crook and find themselves falling for each other no matter how much they try to resist. Unfortunately, as King of the Fae it is Connor's duty to marry a woman who has Fae blood running through her veins. After centuries of mating with humans their blood lines have become seriously diluted and their magic is weakening. Torn between love and duty Connor fights a losing battle. He must convince P.J. to believe in magic but even if he manages that impossible task will it be enough to save them both from heartache?

Lots of magic and characters who have a charming sense of humor make A LITTLE SOMETHING EXTRA a book to savor. This reader figured out who the thief was long before the characters did but anxiously turned the pages to come to the pleasing conclusion of this enchanting love story. Ms. McCutcheon has a whimsical imagination that had me looking at leprechauns in an entirely new light

3.0 out of 5 stars Strangely enough . . ., March 21, 2005
This review is from: A Little Something Extra (More Than Men) (Harlequin American Romance, No 614) (Paperback)
In what has got to be just about the only St. Patrick's Day romance out there, the king of the fairies gets together with a skeptical reporter, to recover a magic shoehorn. No, I am not kidding. I had few serious objections to this story (except for their premarital fling, unfortunately sadly typical of the American Romance line), but it was just kind of disappointing, since a lot of cute ideas were brought up and never developed much, the action was never very logical (ie, things happened for no reason), and the ending was pure shamrocks ex machina.
