Zahedi's film is one of the most emotionally complex viewing experiences of the last two decades. He shows us how we all have many sides to our personality. The brilliance of the film lies in the varying tonal qualities of the scenes. You can never simply dismiss a scene as funny or angry. There are layers upon layers of tones subtly moving around so that you are continuously re-evaluating your relationship to the film. Everyone I have introduced this film to has loved it!

Hard to believe that, at one time, Zahedi was part of the Independent film revolution. He's not part of that any longer, as he's gone in a different direction (an uncompromising one), a direction I for one find more interesting than the usually contrived independent films that we see today.

The other reviews here (including the editorial) have particularly keen insights into the film. I'd add that I'm intrigued by the character of Erin's boyfriend and that I particularly enjoyed Zahedi's pretentious short film shown within the movie. In the right state of mind, this is a great film. One thing distracting, though, is the sound. It can be very hard to understand what people are saying. The movie has never gotten the attention that it needs for VHS or DVD release. (It should be on DVD.) It's a hard movie to find, so find a pretentious friend (such as myself) who already owns it, and watch it with her or him.
