I heard "I Never Meant to Fall" on KBCS in the Seattle area, and was absolutely stunned. I was on the way to the doctor with horrible stomach flu, but just had to call the DJ to hear who sung that amazing, slow, sad song so many of us have lived. Ever been dumped, ripped up, then realized it was for the best? Yeah, you do, and this is the best song about that feeling I've ever heard.

It's a slow folksy/country-ish number with an almost Hawaiian sounding slide guitar, sung with a raspy, experienced voice. Needless to say, I ordered it immediately.

And confidential to Norah Jones or any other aspiring chanteuse: if you're looking for an obscure song to cover, look no further.

Sarah Elizabeth Campbell envelopes the listener with comfort and warmth, while revealing depths of pain and heartbreak that are clearly all too real. This album is a treasure; with the recent passing of Sarah Elizabeth it is an all-too-poignant reminder that even without happy endings, life can be full of joy and grace.

I first met Sarah in 1972. We drifted apart from time to time, but were always kept close by the music. She recorded with many a big name performer and was GREAT in her own right. I keep this an another album close to my heart.

I first heard this voice on a CD I bought on a whim when I was interested inthe music of Steven Foster. Her version of "Beautiful Dreamer" (a song I've loved sice childhood) was so perfect, I had to hear more. This woman is a hidden American treasure!
