Biography

One of the most popular country bands of the early '90s, Little Texas was influenced by modern country outfits like Alabama and Restless Heart, as well as country-rock groups like the Eagles. The band came together in pairs. Porter Howell and Duane Propes started playing together in high school in 1983, then they both moved to Nashville to go to college. Tim Rushlow and Dwayne O'Brien first… Read more in Amazon's Little Texas Store

5.0 out of 5 stars Little Texas hits a home run with Greatest Hits, May 14, 2000

This review is from: Little Texas: Greatest Hits (Audio CD)
Without a doubt, since I started listening to country music about 10 years ago, Little Texas has been my favorite group. I liked all the hits that I had heard on the radio and they sung a lot of songs that I didn't know they did. My favorite was the song that crossed over into the pop charts, "What Might Have Been." But I also liked all the country hits such as "Amy's Back In Austin" and "My Love." I bought the cd about a year ago and it was well worth the money. Even the songs that I didn't know such as "You And Forever And Me" are almost as good as the hits are. Little Texas's "Peaceful Easy Feeling" is also a great remake of The Eagles classic.

Little Texas couldn't have chose a better cover for their Greatest Hits album because they hit a home run with this album! You simply can't go wrong with this album if you like good country music groups or country music period. I just wish that Little Texas was still together making more great hits today.

4.0 out of 5 stars Contemporary Country Hit Machine's Best, February 18, 2005
This review is from: Little Texas: Greatest Hits (Audio CD)
While Little Texas may never be considered a huge influence on any major country artists, you cannot deny the power of their music to be infectious and easy to listen to. They travelled the well-worn trails blazed by groups like Restless Heart and Sawyer Brown. They knew which songs to record to ensure popular status.

The signature song on this album, "What Might Have Been," is definitely their biggest hit and the easiest to recognize. There are other well-known tunes here, like "Kick A Little," "My Love," and "First Time For Everything." All of these songs have some pretty strong staying power. Lesser hits like "I'd Rather Miss You" and "Amy's Back In Austin" are also included here.

The biggest surprise on this disc is their cover of "Peaceful, Easy Feeling" from the "Common Threads" tribute album to the Eagles. It sounds really great. Little Texas excels at covering tunes by established artists. Pick up "Come Together," the Beatles tribute, to get another taste of Little Texas' cover tunes. They cover "Help!" and it is possibly the best song on that album outside of "We Can Work It Out," by Phil Keaggy and PFR.

This album is definitely a great choice for folks who may not have enjoyed all of Little Texas' songs, but still have a couple of favorites. It essentially gives you their best songs and their most popular ones, which is what a greatest hits compilation should be.

5.0 out of 5 stars Simply The Best, Dude!!!!! :o), March 28, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Little Texas: Greatest Hits (Audio CD)
When I first heard 'What Might Have Been', it was on the radio, wayback when (aaah, the good old days). Anyhoo, I called the radio station to ask who that was. My first taste of Little Texas, it was waycool dudes! I've not ever listened to Country music, before. To me, they had their own sound. Up until now, I've purchased most of their cd's. I also have their Greatest Hits on VHS, man that in itself was the ultimate, it was. I haven't seen their videos on tv, so it was totally awesome! I do recommend this particular cd, very much. Aloha from Hawaii, :o)
