My 14-month-old son received this for his first birthday and it has been his favorite toy ever since. He uses it indoors and outdoors. He pulls it, pushes it, pushes down on the handle to flip it up and look at the underside, plays with the controls, opens and closes the "gas cap", etc. He never tires of it. His latest game is to set a big ball on the "engine", and try to push the mower around without bumping the ball off. IMPORTANT: This mower is great for babies who already can walk one or two steps on their own, or who can stand steadily on their own. It's not great for babies who need something to lean on in order to stand up or walk. If a baby leans or pulls up on the handle, they will not get the support they expect -- the handle will fall to the floor, taking them with it. My son was walking about four or five steps on his own when he received this mower. His walking ability quickly skyrocketed after receiving it -- perhaps due to his strong desire to play with it. Great toy -- we love it. Highly recommended.

My son received this mower (well actually, the red and black version, but it's the same toy) for his first birthday, because we thought he might be able to use it as a walker. He could not. The base is much too light for a learning walker to practice with, so stick with a regular walker for that. He learned to walk incredible quickly, though, and a few weeks after his birthday, he was running through the house, "mowing" the living room. It is still (6 months later) one of his favorite toys, and he plays with it every day.

We bought this last year when my son was about 16 months old, he loved it then and loves it now!! He is quite good at sharing his toys, apart from this mower. my friends have bought 'bubble mowers' for their children and have ended up buying this one because the others stop working after a while. It is a very durable, simple, inexpensive toy that children do not seem to tire of. Money well spent!!

My now three year old received this mower for his 1st birthday. He played with it all day every day and he still does. It's a durable and fun toy. There are no small peices or parts. Another good thing is there are no sticky bubbles to deal with, the lawn mower makes a little popping noise as the child pushes it, it's really cute. I had to buy another only because my 3 year old would not share with his younger brother (1). This is a great toy overall and it is holding up well for an "outside toy". No weathering effects to worry about either, it's made of sturdy plastic. GREAT!

dd received around age 1. Since she was just learning to walk, she did not get much use until a few months later, however now, she uses often (even at 2+ yrs old).PROS - Very durable - "key" turns and "lever" goes up and down for more "just like dad's mower" fun - Makes noises like a lawnmower - this is somewhat loud indoors, however when used outdoors it's the perfect loudness - Great height for older toddlers. - No detactable parts - that means nothing to lose ! CONS - It's not intended to assist your child in learning how to walk... it's too light-weight and if child puts any kind of weight on the handles, they'll fall down.(this really isn't a con if you know this before buying) ALL IN ALL A GREAT TOY. WE ALSO HAVE THE FISHER PRICE BUBBLE MOWER, WHICH HAS IT'S OWN ADVANTAGES, HOWEVER THIS IS INTENDED TO BE A NOISEMAKER AND FOR THAT PURPOSE IT'S GREAT . WE PAID $9.99 BRAND NEW - A GREAT PRICE !

We bought this for our 18 month old son and he still plays with it at four years old. Every time we cut the real grass he joins in. The product is very durable and there are no small parts to lose. No batteries either to worry about. A classic.

Our family was lucky enough to win one of these in a competition. The kids (4 yo, 2yo girls and 10 month old boy) were so excited - the elder ones have been asking for a mower so they can help Dad with the lawns. As is usual for Little Tikes it is of high quality and extremely durable. The design is simple but loads of fun - when you push it the wheels turning make the beads "pop" around - just like lawn clippings. Another feature my kids love is the petrol cap so they can use their bowser to "refuel". This has been pushed on grass, cement, pavers, tiles (indoor and out), carpet and floorboards and works a treat. My 10 month old has even worked out how to hold onto it when he's in his walker and pushes it around as he walks in his walking (very funny!). When he's not in is walker he likes to turn it upside down and play with wheels. We've only had it a few weeks and it's already a favourite. Highly recommended.

I made the mistake of walking by this mower display in Toys R Us with my 15 month old son. The bright colors caught his attention (ours is the red, black, and yellow version) and when I didn't let him stop to play he threw a fit. Thinking that I'd let him play with it for a few minutes and then be on my way, I went back to the aisle, lifted him out of the buggy, and let him "mow" a few aisles. When I thought it was time to stop, I put him back into the buggy and put the mower back on the display, and he had a cataclysmic breakdown. I had never seen him so attached so quickly to a toy. Needless to say, I put the mower in the buggy with him, and it went home with us. He has played with it every day since, and it is by far his favorite toy. He keeps our hall, living room, dining room and kitchen mowed to perfection. And I don't mind this toy because the popping sound is not so loud and annoying that I want to take it away after a while. Anything that makes him so happy makes me happy.

My boy likes to follow me around when I cut the grass and I thought he might like a lawmnower of his own. Seems there are two easily-available options out there.1. The Fisher Price bubble mower... which seems like a great concept, but has mediocre reviews. It costs a little less, but doesn't seem as durable. Plus they have redesigned it so that now a bottle of bubble solution screws on to it and anyone who has spent any amount of time with my boy can see that the first thing he would do with *that* is to unscrew it, fill it with dirt, and put it back on. 2. This mower. :-) My neighbor's 5 year old has this mower in red and after 3 years or so it is still in great shape. A little faded from the sun and the cap to the "gas tank" is gone but it still has lots of years on it. We bought a new one in blue and aside from the color, they are the same. My boy wants to take this thing everywhere. He brings it in the house, he takes it out in the yard, he has taken it to the neighbors and the boys have had dueling lawnmower fun. Great toy, very sturdy. It's possible to put a little dirt in the gas tank but it's not going to hurt anything, the cap is really just for show (like on the Cozy Coupe) NOT for kids just beginning to get good at walking, though - I remember last spring when my boy would try to use this, he would lean on it and fall on his face. The age range is 1 1/2 and up - I think at 1 1/2 most kids might still be leaning too much to use this toy well. For 2 and up, it's definately a winner. (My boy is 2 1/2 at the time of this review) |
