5.0 out of 5 stars King of the Road!
We got this toy for my son when he was 1 years old at a garage sale, in great condition. He was king of the road from the get go, driving it in the house and outside. He is 3.5 and still I have to say this toy is played with almost EVERY day, (if I leave it in the house) which I consider pretty amazing! He never seems to tire of the crazy thing! 3.0 out of 5 stars The wheel assembly does not work
Yesterday was one of my children's third birthday, and my wife and I gave one of these fantastic cars to our child. Even unassembled, we could not bring our kid back to the party. He stayed there pretending he was driving, even without tires!!!

However, today during the assembly, with my kids all over me and trying to release the car, I faced the problem when...

5.0 out of 5 stars King of the Road!, November 23, 2001

We got this toy for my son when he was 1 years old at a garage sale, in great condition. He was king of the road from the get go, driving it in the house and outside. He is 3.5 and still I have to say this toy is played with almost EVERY day, (if I leave it in the house) which I consider pretty amazing! He never seems to tire of the crazy thing! I am also amazed at how creative he is with this toy. When he was little he would just ride in it. But now that he is 3.5, he has not grown out of its size or its play factor. I think he'll drive this car til he virtually cannot fit in it!

He has done everything from pretend grocery shopping with it, placing can goods in the little space/trunk, making it into a pick-up/dumper truck with a basket tied on with a bungie cord, to turning it into a mobile tent with his blankie. It has also carried every toy, animal and goodie from here to eternity!

I have to say it is the best toy purchase I have made for my son that has lasted day after imaginative day. It could be the fact that my son is enamored with driving, but I think this toy is a hit with almost all kids that own them (boy OR girl). They are worth the money, and will withstand a few kids easily. The only real wear it shows is the headlight stickers are beginning to peel off.

I plan on passing it down to my baby daughter as she grows into it...IF HE WILL LET HER that is! :)

5.0 out of 5 stars A Classic Must Have, December 25, 2001

I bought this for my 22 month old son for Christmas. He absolutely loves it!!! He has played with one at the sitters and Grandma's so he was already a pro. He is able to get in and out easily. The wheels on his new one are a little stiff. Once they loosen up no place will be safe. With the size you'll probably want an open area to play with it. It also works better on a smooth surface than carpet. Our basement is the perfect place.
Warning the top is a pain to assemble...at least ours was. I finally had to skip the directions and find my own way to get the pieces to pop in place.
I would recommend this gift to any child..boy or girl. If you are considering one though check into all the different kinds Little Tikes make. After my son's was assemble I found out they make one for (a few $$) more that has sound effect buttons on the steering wheel. Other varieties include a truck, police car, and possibly more.

I wish I had given in and bought this when our first of 3 sons was a toddler - I did for #2, and now it's on son #3. Little Tikes toys are VERY durable; this one is no exception. Kids really get a big charge out of "their own car" and it lends itself very well to lots of creative play. It's had LOTS of hard play - e.g. on its back as a rocket ship - and still looks brand new at age 6.

We bought the Cozy Coupe II for our daughter for her first birthday and she loves it! She can't go forward yet but she drives it all around the house by pushing it backward with her feet. The door is too hard for her to open but that's okay because she loves climbing in and out through the windows ala Dukes of Hazzard. She also loves to load up the trunk with her toys and books. I liked the ease of assembly and the custom license plate letters! You can't beat Little Tikes for durability so all around this toy is worth the price!

I am sad to say it is finally time to give up the cozy coupe. I bought it at a garage sale from a family with 3 children when my son was 18 mths old. He's ten now and his two little sisters have used as their main source of transportation for the years since he was too big to get his knees under the steering wheel. His youngest sister is six now and can ride a bike on "two wheels" and can no longer fit in it comfortably. This has BY FAR been the favorite toy of all the toys my 3 kids have ever had in ten years. I am passing mine on to my sister for her 2 year old and it's still in great shape. (It does have some lovely permenant marker decor though.) I'm sure it will probably last forever.

5.0 out of 5 stars A car is always a great adventure., April 23, 2002

Little ones love this car. My three-year-old companion and I were at her playgroup. There were two of these little cars among the toys, and we played with one. I would pull her to the top of the small incline and let the car go. She drove it and actually did try to avoid hitting other kids. Soon a young boy joined us, and they were racing down the incline -- at which time I did not have to ferry the car up in order that she could go down. They played together until they drew too much attention from other children who then wanted to race the cars too. There is very little that is more delightful than hearing a child's laughter; the play yard was filled with giggles. (5 stars for enjoyment and education.)

Later, at home, my three-year-old companion rode her tricycle and let her little (13-14 month old) sister "use" her car. She also loved it, but we did have to watch to make sure she did not slip through the opening where her feet were. She was a little too short, but a taller child should have no problem. The recommended age is 18 months to 4 years, if a child is riding her trike, or skating on her Barbie learning skates, or zipping (okay, a slow zip) around on her scooter by then, she might not be as interested. 1-3 year olds cannot help but love it.

It takes minimal storage space, which can be outside because it is easy to clean. The molded plastic is strong and does not come apart. The colors are bright, and even the ones in the play yard had not faded. 5 stars for durability.

I received a question from a mom who has this toy and the wheels don't turn directions. I have been watching the twins, and they are able to turn the car using the steering wheel. So, if you get one that does not change the directions, it is defective.

When we moved to our first house, I immediately went out and bought one of these for my 2 year old because every time we went to Toys R' Us all he wanted to do at the store was play with this toy. Now that he has it all he wants to do is go out in the front yard and drive it. We also got the gas pump and he loves getting out and filling up the gas and then driving some more. This is a great toy for kids and seems very durable, I definitely think it will last. However it was very very very hard to put together. One of the front yellow pieces would NOT fit in the red car part. My husband has to shave plastic off with his knive then cram it in there while I sat on top of the whole thing to hold it in, so he could then drill a screw through the outside of the back into the red car part. I would suggest paying the extra 10 bucks to have them put it together at the store.

5.0 out of 5 stars "Flintstones.... meet the Flintstones....", October 25, 2000

This sturdy car for preschoolers reminds me of the car Fred and Barney used to ride in on 'The Flintstones' cartoon. My son loves this toy - who wouldn't want a brand new car? At first he just pushed it around, then he put Teddy Bear in the car and gave him a ride. Now he can successfully maneuver frontward, backward, and turning the wheel. But of course he likes the horn the most. We use it inside in our big family room when the weather isn't nice, and we take it outside when it is nice. You can't go wrong with this purchase.

I first bought our cozy coupe car 11 years ago. I run a small home based preschool and this car has held up through 11 years of three and four year old going to the mall, library, or park ( in their imaginations). It has carried up to three children creatively climbing on it at once. The cozy coupe car is still going strong which is more than I can say for my own Adult Car. I would highly recommend this for your family.

My son received this as a gift for his first birthday and immediately adored this toy! It's a very sturdy toy and is easy for little legs to get in and out of. My son constantly hangs out the side and back windows and it never tips or bobbles a bit. My only wish is that the ignition key (which we think is the neatest thing) was somehow attached to the car...it's only a matter of time before my little devil loses it! Kudos to Little Tykes for continuing to manufacture an oldie but goodie!!!
