Just bought this today for my son who is turning 3. It holds tons of paper and other things which is great and I love the way the top opens up to be used as an easel. The light doesn't really provide a whole lot of light but it's a nice feature.

It's not too hard to put together but there are no written directions, only pictures. You can expand the desk so that it grows with your child and after I got the whole thing together I wished I just went ahead and made it bigger right away. You basically have to almost disassemble the thing to make it taller and I don't see us going through all that trouble down the road (I'll probably lose the directions that tell me how to do it by then anyway).
Box suggests desk is for ages 2-6 and I think that is about right. Too small for older children, especially the chair.

My son really enjoyed his desk all day today and I look forward to lots of great progects. It is even reinforcing to him that everything has a place and to put the lid back on the markers etc.

I would LOVE to buy this item but I believe $80+ in shipping charges is completely outrageous. I paid to have a whole sofa and loveseat deleivered from NC for less than that. Why would someone buy this over another desk here when the charges are so much less for them. Tried to go to multiple Toys R Us and they do not sell it in store. Am I missing something - are people actually paying over $150 for this???

This is a great item. I've read the reviews and done my own research. It's the best childrens art activity desk out there. I really want to buy it for my son for Christmas, but can't possibly afford an $80 shipping charge! I've paid less than half that to have items twice that size and weight sent to me. Please consider lowering this charge. The item only costs $70!

If the shipping comes down to a reasonable price, I'll definitely purchase this desk! Help!! Thank you!

We want to buy this for our son for Christmas but, what in the world are they thinking by charging $80 to ship a $60 item!!
Especially when all the other desks on this site are shipping for a rate of $25!!!???? Come on guys, what are ya'll thinking.....make it so we can buy this item!!!!

This desk is great. It is large so make sure you have a place for it, but it doesn't take up as much room as a smaller desk and a separate easel. This desk combines the two (more details below).

My daughter is 40 inches tall and when I put it together I put it in the lowest position and it will be able to stay that way for some time. You do basically have to disassemble and reassemble to adjust the height, but it's not very hard. I wouldn't be surprised if this was still sitting in my kitchen in five years. I think it will grow with my daughter for a very long time.

The top flips up into an easel with an option of two angles or it can lay flat. There is a sturdy clip that holds things in place. My daughter doesn't use the chair much because she prefers to stand up and use the easel. The ends of the desk have large storage areas that you can stuff with tons of coloring books, construction paper etc. My daughter is 45 lbs and she thinks that climbing on the desk is a great way to get to things she shouldn't. It doesn't even phase this desk. It is very sturdy. Paint and crayons wipe right off.

The light is superfluous. It doesn't produce enough light and just made my daughter mad when it timed out. She seems to have forgotten it's there and I'm glad.

I would definitely recommend this desk. It is great.

I agree with suzanne. I believe that $80 is completely more than outrageous. It is a complete rip off! Come on. What a downer. We want desperately to buy this but it is more than the cost of the item. Amazon really needs to re-evaluate the shipping and handling of this item. From not so impressed in Colorado.

I was also totally disgusted by the amount charged for shipping this item. This amount for Shipping a $70.00 item is totally outrageous!!! I have since purchased this item at K B Toys. com where the price is the original $99.99 but they are offering free shipping and a surcharge of only $30.00 with a delayed payment till Febuary 2005 Great Deal!!! and I saved more than $30.00 if I would have purchased it here!! My 2 year old son will love this item for Christmas. I am willing to spend more for the item and not feel ripped off.You missed out on my business as well your loss!!!!!!!!!! I will definitely shop around from here on out!!!!!

I noticed another viewer commented on this same thing, but I felt it was necessary to say it again. This item is in fact on clearance at ToysRUs. I bought it two weeks ago. I called my local store and asked if they had the item. They said it was not on the floor but they had 2 in the back. I had them hold one and asked the price. They informed me it was $69.99, but when I got to the store later that day it was half off because of the green sticker. I was shocked. And so happy I did not have to pay the high shipping charge. Check your local store if possible

I bought this EXACT desk at my local toys r us and it was marked down to 69.99 with a green tag which meant it was HALF OFF that price. I got it for 35.00! And folks, of course no shipping involved. I encourage everyone to check your local store first for price before buying online. I love amazon.com and buy alot of stuff from here, that's how I found this desk. I bought it for my daughter's second birthday and she loves it. Holds alot, very sturdy.
