4.0 out of 5 stars you've got mail
My 18 month old son loves getting the mail so this toy was a great find! We have it next to HIS play house. It includes 3 plastic envelopes in 3 different colors so you can work on colors and numbers and there are slots to store them in besides just putting them into the mailbox by opening the door or putting them in through the back or slot on the side in the mailbox...

3.0 out of 5 stars good concept, mediocre execution
I saw this product and couldn't wait to get it. Picking up the mail is part of our daily routine and now my 12 month old could get her own. I love the colors and selection of accessories.

However, it took us 45 minutes to put together and required using two different screw drivers. Also, the base is not weighted so everytime my daughter opens the mailbox it falls on...

My 18 month old son loves getting the mail so this toy was a great find! We have it next to HIS play house. It includes 3 plastic envelopes in 3 different colors so you can work on colors and numbers and there are slots to store them in besides just putting them into the mailbox by opening the door or putting them in through the back or slot on the side in the mailbox. There are also 3 square shaped stackers (packages) also in different colors that he loves to build with or put into one another. There is a bee that buzzes when you push it around the mail box which he thinks is funny. A flexible butterfly is adorning the top of the mailbox along with a clicking catapillar and spinning ladybug at the bottom. Oh and the red flag also click and moves! My son has been quite entertained by this toy. It's great for exercising motor skills and imagination. The only negatives I would say are that it tips pretty easly and there should be an off/on switch for the buzzing bee. It's actually very cute but it would be nice to be able to control. Whether your children are into getting the mail or not this is a wonderful toy!!!

My 12 month old got this for her birthday. I was really wanting her to have this product. She loved playing with a smaller mailbox that was on one of her other toys so I thought she would really enjoy it. She loves getting the mail in and out of it and she likes playing with the containers that stack inside each other on the base. There is only one fault...it tips over very easily. So whenever she opens the door on the mailbox it falls over on her. They should have made the base weighted especially since its for the toddler age group.

5.0 out of 5 stars What Fun!, April 25, 2003

My three year old will still play with this at times. My two year old girl has had a ball with this toy. They enjoy playing mailman and getting mail and sending mail. They enjoy all the pieces that click and move and so on.

If you are like me and appreciate toys that are fairly quiet, easy to play with, fun and durable, this is a good toy to buy.
It encourages both small and gross motor skills. It encourages creative play and imagination and exploration of the world.

I would consider this toy well worth the money.
Enjoy

However, it took us 45 minutes to put together and required using two different screw drivers. Also, the base is not weighted so everytime my daughter opens the mailbox it falls on her. It's not heavy and hasn't hurt her but I don't like the idea of a large and awkward toy falling on her.

great idea, bad execution

5.0 out of 5 stars Here's an idea....., November 9, 2003

Looking at the reviews, I see a lot of people disappointed with the "toy value". But I purchased it for its "Creative Value". My 3yr old son always follows me when I reach for the mailbox every morning. So with that, I had an idea to leave "mail" for him every morning, too. And whatever I leave in there the night before is what we will be doing the next day during our Mommy and Me time. I have a 6month old and I had to make sure he didn't resent the attention I give my little son. So now he gets his mail and its contents could be any project for us to do that day. It could be something educational (an alphabet page I created with a letter and objects.."A" ant, apricot), a story book, a puzzle, an arts and crafts project, a clue to an outing, ANYTHING. He will always get my attention and we will always do things together, but this mailbox adds a special touch. He LOVES it!

5.0 out of 5 stars soooo cute!, November 1, 2003

I got this for my youngest son when he was 8 months old. Now he's 18 months old and he still plays with this all the time! At first he was just interested in chewing on the "mail" and spinning the bumblebee, but now he pretends to mail the letters. His 3 year old brother loves being a "mailman" also! I never would have bought it if I hadn't found it on sale because I never thought they would have enjoyed it so much! I'm so glad that I bought it.

I definitely wish that the bumblebee had an on/off switch. That buzzing gets really irritating. If it gets to a point where I can't stand it, I can just take the batteries out. It would just be nice to have the option to turn it off.

We originally purchased this toy for our six month old. We have found that not only does he enjoy hours of entertainment from it but our two year old spends just as much time with it. It is durable and stores easy in the corner of our family room. There aren't to many detachable pieces to keep track of. That is a bonus with toys like this. This toy will be one I purchase as gifts for my friends children.

My 7 month old baby received this toy as a present. I had heard great things about it, but it is not only hard to assemble, but the base is so weak that he has hurt himself by easily tumbling it over.
I don't recommened it for children that are unable to stand up by themselves.

3.0 out of 5 stars Cute but very annoying and all-around not the best, November 22, 2003
= Durability:4.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:3.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:4.0 out of 5 stars

I bought this toy for my daughter because I thought it was adorable. While putting it together, I just about threw it through the window because the bee does NOT stop buzzing. It goes off at the slightest touch and just goes on and on and on. The batteries were removed from the bee before my daughter even saw the toy. My daughter recieved this at about 6 months and is 10 months now. She does enjoy playing with the mail, nesting cups, and some of the other features but she is not entertained for long. So many other toys have nesting cups and things to put into slots that I don't think this was the best purchase. In addition, it tips over easily when she tries to use it to stand or when trying to open the mailbox (which is difficult for an infant to open.)

We got this mailbox for both of our children for Christmas. My duaghter is 8 months and my son is 4 years. They both love it especially the baby. There are "envelopes" and "packages" for her to chew on and she loves spinning the bee and the ladybug. My son loves to join in and play with her. This is a great toy to buy. Would recommend it to anyone. Lots of fun stuff to do on this one!
