I bought this for my daughter for her third birthday. I was expecting it to do more than it did. The only thing that talks is the burner on the stove and as of yet have not heard the 700 sayings and we did buy all the food packs that are available for it. Don't get me wrong, I love this thing. She loves it a lot too. The more we play with it the more I hear it say things I hadn't heard before, but like I was saying...the only part of the kitchen that does the talking is the stove burner. The iron is hard to get working...you must fiddle with it a bit before it starts to make sounds, but I may have just gotten a dud iron.
There is a washer and dryer that makes cool sounds when you push the button and she gets a kick out of pretending to do her own laundry. There is a coffee maker, microwave, oven and dishwasher but there are no sounds for any of them. The food peices must be put on the burner on the stove to make the kitchen talk. My daughter loves it when the kitchen talks back to her. She loves the pretend phone that comes with it too. The great thing about this kitchen is the fact it folds in half...if you need to make space in a room, just fold it in half...but as of yet my daughter has not let me touch the kitchen, I must just sit in the floor and watch her!! For anyone looking for a great toy for hours of fun, this is it....but be prepared to lose your kid for awhile!! I think I have spent more time eating all her pretend food and sitting in the floor watching her do laundry than I have doing my own actual cooking and laundry.
I looked at all the other kitchens at toysrus and did a lot of checking around and this kitchen was my first pick and I am sure glad I got it. It was easy to put together and it is very sturdy.
TERRIFIC BDAY PRESENT !!!
I am editing my review to all those having issues with the iron...I called little tikes and they told me what was wrong...there are two metal contacts on the inside of the handle on the iron and your fingers must touch both of the contacts at the same time for it to work, just thought i would add that to anyone having issues...thanks.

We got this for our daughter's first birthday and she loved it for a few days but then she got bored with it. We opted for this open because it seemed safer than the other. No small parts or anything to break off and the doors really couldn't smash her fingers. We realized she was a little young for one but she loved the one at church and we thought this one would be ok for her.
But in our search for a safe set for a younger child we ended up sacrificing most of the entertainment factor. It doesn't really do as much as some of the other kitchen. It's also kind of small. She got really frustrated when all her pots and pans and food wouldn't fit it. The doors also seem to stick at times.
But our main problem was that it tipped over really easily! She would be playing and it would just flip. We had to keep it up next to a wall or she managed to flip it every time. Granted she never got hurt but it was just a matter of time.
So we loaded it up and took to a local consignment shop. It went to a very nice 3 year old and just recently came back with the same problems. So I would suggest opting for a different model that's more fun and safer.

I purchased this kitchen for my 3-year-old daughter for her birthday. I had originally looked at the previous model at Toys R Us, which was a lot more interactive (i.e, the sink made sounds, the microwave, etc); but when I went back to purchase it, it was replaced by this model, which was a little disappointing.
Don't get me wrong. My daughter enjoys this kitchen. She has played with it constantly in the few days she has had it. And it does come with several accessories.
I do have a few gripes, which are basically the same as some other reviewers. My biggest gripe is the iron does not work properly. You have to turn it in all different directions to make it come on; but when you put it in the ironing position, it does nothing!!!! My three year old can't even get it to turn on. I would think that I just got a bad iron; however, from reading a previous review, it sounds like they all do that.
Also, our kitchen only says a few phrases. We only have the food pack that came with the kitchen, though, and cannot find anyone that carries the intelli-tike food packages to get more; so maybe when we do, that will get better.
Overall, this is a pretty good kitchen. However, it would be a great kitchen if the iron worked and if the sink, microwave, oven, and dishwasher had some kind of interactive sound. For the price, I would expect these things and am a little disappointed. I don't know if this kitchen will hold her interest when she gets a little older like it would if it had more interactive elements.
