My first question was whats the quality of the output.. I couldn't find anything on web so two examples of the video here .

Max got one of those waterproof kids camera's for his birthday and I have to be honest I really was expecting a poor output, how wrong was I!
Ok so the fact you have to unscrew the baseplate to get to the usb socket and the fact it records in ASF format so isn't that friendly but just look at the quality!!!!
I think I needed Flip4Mac Studio to encode output after using MPEG Streamclip (freeware) - to covert from ASF but honestly I had this stuff anyway and I am OVER the MOON with the quality. Look out for more Video's of Max by Max..
The Camera has 3 modes, Video, Replay and Camera. Camera picture are equally impressive!
Max gets the controls but he does find it quite heavy to hold for long periods (When you are 3 that is about 30 secs).
Once you have the hang of 2 secs to power on then hold the power button to scroll through modes. The zoom is useless if you set video and camera to maximum but I cant say he misses that option.

I bought this video camera for my son's 5th birthday. He loves it. He an my older son (he's 6) had a blast with it. They ran around taping anything and everything....laughing every step of the way. They made "shows" and just taped each other acting goofy. Once it lost it's "new" appeal, they didn't use it as much but they do still pick it up and have just as much fun as they did originally.

Bought this from etoys as a Christmas present for almost 4yr old. Good price of only $89.00. First problem was getting the cover off to insert batteries. After nearly 10 minutes we finally got it off and then noticed that we would have to take it off every time we wanted to download the footage. Might have been willing to overlook that if the image quality were not so poor no matter what the resolution. The shutter is very slow and is nearly impossible to prevent movement of the heavy camera. Before returning to etoys (who were great about handling the return) I was going to remove the batteries. After trying to get the cover off for 5 minutes I decided it was not worth my time or frustration. So glad I returned this camera.

My Granddaughter was always wanting me to take movies of her on my camera, and play them back for her, so I got this for her third birthday and she loves it. We keep it up, so she is only aloud to use it under supervision, but she goes around the house taking pictures and movies of everything. She has caught some pretty funny things going on around the house. She still likes my camera, but this way she can do it herself and it is great to see her smile and giggle as she gets a picture. The camera is easy for her to use, and very durable. I don't worry about her breaking it or hurting it in anyway. As she grows this camera will grow with her.

I got this for my 3 1/2 year old great granddaughter for Christmas and she loves it. Her other little movie camera fell in the tub and was ruined. This one is supposed to be submersible to 15' so could be used underwater in the pool. The quality of the built in viewer is very poor but is to be expected for this price. It picks up audio fairly well but nothing to brag about. Downloading video or pictures requires a mini screwdriver to remove a cover to get to the the USB connector. Understandable since it is submersible but kind of a pain with the tiny screw. Keeps the wiring out of reach of sticky hands though.

This was bought a few years ago as a Christmas gift and my children never figured out how to use it and I never took the time to study the directions. I remember paying a lot of money for it. It was used once and then put in the "to be sold" pile. I didn't have the time to deal with it.

The battery case is REALLY hard to get off!!!! the controls are hard to figure out.
The first night my 5yo sister had this it wouldnt turn off and then the next day it wouldnt stay on for more than ten seconds at a time!
It works now but my sister DEFINITELY does NOT understand how to operate it.

I would recommend the Fisher Price camera instead.

i bought it for $25 so i cant complain but its really frustrating bec i had to break the battery compartment to put the batteries so now i cant use it anywhere near water and that was my intent...the quality is very poor and the camera is difficult to hold for small hands but at least its strong and my 3 year old can play with it and i dont really have to check how gentle he is so for what i paid comparing to other people its ok...i dont intend to get any pics onto my computer anyways...

This is great for my three year old who is always trying to use her older sister's gear. Now she has her own camcorder that won't break with each drop, and she can take it in the water!

One shouldn't have to damage the product on Christmas morning simply to install batteries, but that is what happened.

At a minimum the waterproof battery compartment cover should come with a pry hole or pull strap. The cover would not budge after constant unscrewing. After unsuccessfully using pliers where the thumbholds are, a butter knife was repeatedly pried at the edge of the cover until removal resulted.

Now my son's new camera is scratched and pitted from the pliers, butter knife, and whatever else was used by the four family members that worked on it.
