This is a great toy, and not just for those 18 months and over.
When he was 4 months old, my son picked this out at the store; he seemed intrigued by the tones when I demonstrated it. I placed it at the end of his play gym, and one day he stretched out a foot and hit a piano key. Bing! He stretched out another foot. Beng! I could almost see the wheels turning. Excited, he started kicking fast, realizing his feet were playing a tune, and he loved it! I always kept the piano far enough away that he would hit only the plastic piano keys and not the harder xylophone keys. During tummy time, this was a toy to which he would stretch, and playing it made him forget that he was on his tummy. A year and a half later, he plays with this all the time. When he was learning to stand and walk, we kept this on the ground, because it could hurt if it fell. Now we keep it on a low table at "piano" height, and he plays both the piano and the xylophone (yes, the string is a bit too short, but the lawyers probably designed it). Another big plus to this toy: No batteries.

My wife just got this for our son for Christmas. We tend to favor toys that will foster a love and understanding of music. Perhaps there is an advanced music lesson to be had here -- that when you cut a piece of steel a little smaller than another one, it will indeed be a higher pitch but not necessarily tonal with respect to the other. That's not a lesson that my seven-month-old is ready to learn. The scale of the octave is badly out of tune. It grates on my ears, and I hope to raise a child on whose ears this toy would grate as well.
It is a good looking toy, and it seems like it's probably durable. It "works" in the sense that the action of the keys results in a bell being struck. For these reasons, I give it one star rather than trying to demonstrate that it deserves zero. Only buy this toy if you are sure your child is tone deaf or ready to explore breaking away from the limits of chromaticism.

I bought this cute xylophone toy for my year old grandson. Even though it is a toy I expected more. Quality control should have made sure that there was a complete scale. In this case the 2 highest notes were identical in size and therefore sound. The pitch was off on a number of keys. The producers could have done better for a musical toy. Even though it came with songs (that is if you cut up the box to get at the song cards)they were annoying to listen to since the notes were either missing or off pitch. I would not recommend this xylophone.

We had wanted to get Little Tikes' worm xylophone/keyboard, which is very similar to the Jamboree Tiger. However the worm, which I had gotten for my nephew around 5 years ago, is no longer made, so we figured the Tiger would work just as well.
The first one we received from Amazon had about two keys badly out of tune and about three keys that would only chime with dull thuds, unless you hit them very hard. We returned it and received a replacement, which was even worse, with even more flawed keys. All in all, this was a very disappointing product, especially compared to how well the worm worked. I will note that Amazon prime provides fantastic return service.

This is a cute little Xylophone. Easy for little kids to use (my daugher is 19 months old) and seems really durable so far. My kids love it so far. The only two downsides: The cords on the sticks are pretty short, making them a little restrictive for little hands, and three of the notes are really out of tune. But they are little things (the tune thing is probably not noticable for most people), and overall this is a great toy for little guys :)

This was purchased for my son and he absolutely loves it. I would love it more if it was in tune. I realize it is just a toy but each time he plays with it grates on my nerves. The piano part is more in tune than the xylophone.

We got this for my daughter's 1st birthday since she likes to smack things and seems to enjoy musical toys. I read a lot of reviews about various xylophones, and noted that the baby versions tend to be very out of tune. Figuring that my daughter wouldn't care, we bought this anyway. The reviews were right; somewhere around the orange key, it stops being a scale and is more like a musical catastrophe. When I see these (and others like it) in stores, I try them out, and each one is wrong in a different way. My daughter doesn't care though, and that's the point. When she's old enough to care, we'll get her something that sounds right.

I was so excited to find a xylophone that incorporated a piano into it as well. Unfortunately I bought and RETURNED this item to Amazon twice because the scale was very out of tune. The first one I received had 2 correct notes of 8 and the second had 6 correct notes. I thought I was just being picky but then I read some reviews and found out I wasn't the only one dissatisfied. I guess I should have read the reviews before I purchased it. I even read some reviews on Little Tikes website and some people said that they contacted Little Tikes about the problem but never received any feedback. I still want to buy my daughter a xylophone for Christmas. I guess I'll be heading to the store so I can test them all out myself before I buy!

Let's start off by stating that our 11-month-old daughter received this two months ago, and is cognitively quite sharp. Her motor skills are catching up.
She loves turning it upside down, on its side, etc... just like her dad to try to figure out the whole package and take it apart (I predict she'll end up reconstructing broken things, too, once she's older). She kicks the heck out of the keys when sitting (or smacks them during tummy time), and has learned that EITHER of the two sticks CAN INDEED reach entirely across the entire toy to tap any key. Each key makes a unique sound and is easily distinguishable from the next. I'm no music expert or anything, but I could definitely state that they're not identical as some individuals claim. We can see that she prefers some tones over others based upon which she strikes or avoids. The sticks themselves are attached well enough, and even with some chewing, they're not snapping off. I honestly don't know what some of the other reviewers' critiques are based upon, but this product does exactly what it was advertised to do. Should my daughter become more musically inclined, then this toy can enable her to figure out a tone to tap out or strike when using the keys. For now, it's a temporary use toy because, well... she's a baby figuring out her way in the world. If she shows musical inclination, then something more sophisticated and better for an "expert" or developing player will certainly be in order. No complaints.

This toy is cute and my kids love it. I like it because they can play together. One can play the piano keys while one hits the xylophone keys. Mine often make a "band" and play "songs" for me. It is kind of heavy and very badly out of tune, but it's meant to be a toy and not a real musical instrument so I don't mind this. I liked it over all.
