5.0 out of 5 stars My son loves this!
My son loves this toy so much! It is not only a flashlight, he can also push it along the ground and it makes sounds and toots. He loved it so much we got our nephew one.

3.0 out of 5 stars Okay toy
My son loves Thomas, so I thought this would be a great toy. Unfortunately, I guess it wasn't made for a rough toddler. After just several days of getting banged around, poor Thomas' light doesn't work anymore. I could replace the bulb, but my son will probably just break it again.

I bought two of these flashlights for my two Thomas fans for Christmas. They are a HUGE success with the kids. I only give them four stars rather than five since the train sounds tend to drive me up the wall!

My son is not completely into the Thomas line like other kids but he enjoys the sound and flashlight from this Thomas piece. Another kid had it and when he saw it he wouldn't let go of it so I ended up getting one for him. He will push it around and use the light in dark places. He is only 2 1/2 years old so problably when he gets older I can see him sleeping with it in bed. Our light bulb stopped working after just a couple days so we had to buy a replacement bulb which fortunately is not very expensive. I am not sure how durable it is as we have been careful not to drop it but it is made of hard plastic. Nice combination of train sound and flashlight for the little one.

We love Thomas and this flashlight is a very well made toy. It has been a hit since we purchased it for DS's b'day.

I expected a flashlight to eat batteries but this one REALLY goes through them. So we resorted to rechargables.

DS sleeps with this flashlight nightly.

This was purchased as a gift for a 2 year old and he loved it! It has a handle that makes it easy for little ones to hold. It also has great train sound effects. Very cute!

My nephew loved this toy! He already likes Thomas, so he kept coming back to this toy after he opened his other birthday gifts. Only problem was that we couldn't find an off button (his mom may hate me later for that!). We got our giggles when it would make it's train noises every time we came to a stoplight and the toy shifted in the back seat.

Just having the flashlight in his crib has added that sometimes needed security for a 2 1/2 year old. The flashlight itself is cute and appears safe to be left in a bed with a child.

This was a gift for our two-year old nephew for Christmas. It was one of the first gifts he opened and he liked it right away. It came with batteries and immediately entertained him with its portable size, light-up Thomas face, and train sounds. He opened other presents, but kept coming back to this one. Of course it helps that he already loves trains and especially Thomas the Train. However he did receive other Thomas the Train gifts and played with this one constantly. His mother texted us later that night and said he had played with it so much they already had to replace the batteries (not sure if this is a good thing). We have purchased many items from Amazon, but this is the first time we have felt compelled to write a review.

3.0 out of 5 stars Ok toy, not a flashlight, September 10, 2008

I, the adult around here, like this toy and would give it 4 stars, but my 2 1/2 year old, who loves trains, has never really gotten into it, so I give it 3 stars on his behalf. It makes choo-chooing sounds and steam sounds (I think those are the only sounds) and has rolling wheels. It's also bigger than most Thomas toys - it's about the size of a shoe box for toddlers' shoes.

I don't know why they call it a flashlight, though - it's completely worthless as a flashlight. Even my son, who loves flashlights and has a fairly generous definition of what qualifies as a "flashlight" (we have a little strobe light that flashes red lights to wear on after-dark walks, and calls it the "tiny flashlight") never considered it to be a flashlight. For a variety of reasons, it doesn't work as a flashlight - the cover of the light has Thomas's face painted on it, so it casts strange jack-o-lantern like shadows in the middle of the light, the light is very dim and it doesn't have a reflector behind the light, so there's no beam, just very dim, dispersed light. To see anything with it, you pretty much have to be on top of what you're looking at (it's about as effective as a flashlight as your cell phone). Also, as someone else said, the flashlight part breaks easily - even though my son doesn't play with this toy much, the light still broke. That said, kids (other than mine) who don't need a functional flashlight might enjoy it.
