3.0 out of 5 stars Fun, but not floor friendly
My sister-in-law gave us this toy, since her youngest had outgrown it and I have a nearly one year old daughter. Unfortunately, my big girls (6 and 4) couldn't resist taking turns riding it and pushing each other around--and the hard plastic wheels left permanent scuff marks all over my laminate flooring. Laminate is super durable--this car is literally the first thing...

We affectionatly call the Push&Ride the Puppenlaufstuhl (its German name found in the directions). We purchaced the Puppenlaufstuhl for our daughter at 10 months, when she was almost walking. Once walking, she took to it immediately, and continued playing with it throughout her increasing mobility stages. She enjoyed pushing it, riding it, and sometimes just repeatedly getting on and off of it. It's low profile, along with well spaced handlebars and spoiler, allowed her to easily climb on and off at a fairly young age. I really feel it helped develop her agility and climbing skills. Occaisionally she would slide off onto the floor, which is probably why they only recommend it for tots over 12 months. Until your child is over 12 months & has better agility, I'd recommend your child play with it on carpeted surfaces only. Like other reviewers, our daugther went through a stage of standing on the seat (before she was ready to). While she got a few boo-boos, again I feel she learned some limitations by doing so. Now, at 26 months, she leaps off unscathed, and seems to have a great sense of balance.
As her play developed, she used it as a make-shift truck to haul small toys from one place to another (in the small bin behind the seat), which facilited long stretches of stacking and unstacking.
Initially, I'd stoop over and push her across the floor. In an effort to save my back, I created a make-shift tow rope for the Puppenlaufstuhl by looping a temporary dog leash around the handlebar stem - under the handlebar grips (Dad's longer leather belt works well too). When I pull her around the house or neighborhood like this, she screams and laughs with joy! This is one of her all-time favorite things to do (mine too)! We took it on an extended work/vacation trip where we stayed in a hotel for multiple days. While my wife was attending all-day conferences, I occupied our daughter by pulling her down the long hotel corridors. Occaisionally, this even lulled her to sleep. Thereafter, it went on all similar trips.

A short list of the Puppenlaufstuhl's best features: (1)It doesn't tip fore and aft, thanks to stretched wheelbase. (2)No steering mechanism (for you new parents, this is a good thing). (3)Sturdy, yet light enough for your one-year-old to push and carry. (4)Fits easily into cars trunk or roof box, duffle bag, or upper shelf in closet. (5) Simple design - no batteries, no music buttons, no seperate or moving parts (except wheels). (6)Extended play life makes this inexpensive toy an exceptional value. I expect our second child to get a few more years out of the Puppenlaufstuhl.

Bottom line, if your tot were to only have three toys, this should be one of them.

My daughter received this walker as a gift for her first birthday. She was not yet walking on her own, and this doll walker toy gave her the freedom to get up and go. Now that she is 4 years old it is still her favorite ride-on toy, hands down (even though she is really too big for it at this point). She's pretty rough on it - propelling herself and the bike off the end of our patio and onto the grass (a few inch drop). This toy is sturdy! We now have an 8 month old son who is starting to get some use out of it too, and loving it. Too bad for him it's in such great shape still because he's stuck riding a pink bike! <<grin>> Highly recommend this walker/trike!

My daughter got this for her first birthday. She loves to ride on it while her big brother pushes it. She loves to push it around herself. It is extremely well made, and the wheels roll nicely. It is low enough that my daughter can get on and off by herself.

I purchased the Push Ride Doll Walker for my daughter when she was 11 months old. She loved pushing it around while learning to walk. Now at age 2 1/2, she still cherishes it as a riding toy. The toy has had lots of use over the years, and still looks great! Very durable, yet light-weight for easy transport. I highly recommend!

I got this toy from a friend of mine that already had 2 children drag it about, and now my daughter has used and abused it for over a year!! It just keeps on going! We had it in the house during the winter months, and she rode around on it. Now through spring, summer, and fall, she has driven it like a hot rod!! Like I said....you just can't kill this toy!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Sturdy and fun toy, January 16, 2007
This review is from: Little Tikes Push and Ride Doll Walker (Toy)
We bought this walker when my daughter was 10 months old and she loved it. Its very well designed and does not have any sharp edges or corners, which is a great for little ones learning to walk. Another thing that I liked about the walker is that it can be used indoors as well as outdoors.

5.0 out of 5 stars The most stable baby/toddler car there is. We love it!, June 8, 2004

I bought this car for half price at a secondhand store and it is THE BEST car for a young child! We have several other types/brands of cars that were given to us and none of them are as stable as this one is. This is the only car that has NEVER tipped over for my child (several other brands have). Also, the seat height is great for my toddler, who has long legs, but it still works well for all of her friends too. It is definitely durable and it rides well on the driveway/gravel as well as on indoor carpet.

I would defnitely pay full price for this product even though I was lucky enough to find it for less.

I highly recommend this brand over any other!

My one year old daughter recieved all kinds of toys for christmas. This one is her favorite by far. We can no longer leave the house without her "ike". She pushes it, rides it, and loves it when you push too. She is not yet walking so she use her bike to get around. It is great!

I bought this for my daughter when she was 8 months old. She loved sitting in it while I pushed her all over the house. Later, she would push or drag the toy by herself, hitting walls and furniture along the way. Around 12 months, she started getting into her climbing phase. She'd climb up on the seat and stand up while holding on to the handle at the back, which is quite scary because this toy is lightweight and moves easily. She'd also tip the toy on its side and climb up on it as though it were a surfboard. This was a bit safer since the thing was off its wheels. Now she is 14 months old, but still has not gotten around to riding it conventionally by herself.

Overall, this is one of the better buys for me, as far as toys are concerned. I gave it a 4-star fun rating because my daughter enjoyed it but wasn't really addicted to it. Since she hasn't learned to ride it by herself yet (and I have tried to demonstrate it to her), I only gave it a 2-star educational rating. If nothing else, I hope she learns things move easier when they are on wheels. Finally, I find this toy extremely durable, although I did wish it came pre-assembled.

5.0 out of 5 stars Little Tykes Push and Ride, January 9, 2007
This review is from: Little Tikes Push and Ride Doll Walker (Toy)
This is an excellent product, perfect for our 10 month old grandaughter. It is colorful and versatile, and it matches her developmental stage well. She enjoys being pushed on it and is propelling herself backwards while sitting on it (forwards will come soon, I am sure). She is also pulling up on it, and it is very steady. Finally, she is able to take steps while pushing it and holding onto it, It works well on carpet, was not difficult to put together, and was not expensive. An excellent product!
