5.0 out of 5 stars A great toddler bed!
My oldest son was in this bed from 17 months until he was 3 1/2, when we gave him a bigger bed so my youngest son could start using it. 2.0 out of 5 stars Not their usual quality
Having been impressed with the quality of many other Little Tikes products that I have purchased, I was disappointed with the Roadster Toddler bed. When my son tied to put it together, he found the holes were not in the proper place for assembly. Luckily he is quite handy, so he drilled new holes and was able to put the bed together. While this was a solution, I am...

5.0 out of 5 stars We Solved the Mattress Support Problem for this Great Bed, October 19, 2000

When we bought this bed several years ago, we had sold our son's crib springs with his crib. To support his new crib-size mattress in this bed, we used a large piece of heavy cardboard until that would not support his weight. I then bought a clear plastic "under-the-bed" storage box by Stearlite (dimensions were 35 x 16 3/4 x 6 -- 48 qt. capacity). With its lid on, it was strong enough to support the mattress and our son. I even laid on the bed with him to watch TV a few times. The bed has been great, but it's now time for bunk beds. I would recommend this bed to anyone for its durability. It's been mentioned, but it's worth repeating that it's easy for the child to climb into and it's not far to the floor if he/she does roll off of it, a good safety feature. Give the storage box idea a try. You could store sheets, keepsake items, or seasonal clothing, in it, or even hide surprises for your child in it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Durable enough for "hand-me-downs", also comes in 2 sizes!, October 11, 2000

We just bought a 2nd-hand Roadster Toddler Bed from a family who owned it for 5 years and it STILL looks brand new! Little Tikes makes very durable toys and furniture that allow "hand-me-downs" to last. I also like the fact that LT makes this Roadster bed in two sizes: toddler bed size and standard twin size. If your little guy is so attached to his toddler bed now, there can be less fuss when he outgrows it...just move up to the next size! The only negative thing about the toddler bed is that there is no mattress support included with the bed (new or used beds). Springs or coils are usually built into the crib mattress so there is no separate box spring to use. You have to buy separate slats or plywood to hold the mattress up.

We bought this bed for my son who is now 12 and we just put my 2 year old in it. He is the 4th child to use it and it is still in excellent condition. I highly recommend this to any parent who isn't sure about putting your child into a bed yet. We found they can't wait to go to bed and stay in it.

TJ's Mom - Fisher Price makes a toddler size bed rail, it is blue and white so it matches the bed.

I actually don't own this bed, but I was checking something for work and came across these reviews. (I work at Toys R Us). For all of you talking about how "there's no mattress support"... you should just buy one instead of using cardboard boxes and such. (Which is probably not that safe.) No, it doesn't come with a support, and they should tell you this when you buy it or it should at least come with one since it is one of the more expensive beds. But anyway... you can buy one from this website, or at a TRU store... it's called a "bunkie board".

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome toddler bed!, October 29, 2005

Recently bought this for my son and he LOVES it! Now, it wasn't such an easy transition for us from crib to bed but that has nothing to do with the bed. We are still trying to get him to sleep in it but he is young and feels a little scared not being in his crib but it's just a matter of time. My son loves to play with it and read his books on his race car bed and loves to bring people in his room to see it. It was easy to put together and very well made. Our crib matteress fit great there are very very slight gaps but no big deal at all and I just stuffed some baby pillows anywhere I felt that there was a tiny gap. It's a really great bed and there is no doubt in my mind my son will love it for quite some time. I had also considered the fire truck bed by step 2 and SO glad I did not get that one. My son likes me to lay down with him at night and read him a story and there is no way on earth either my hubby or I would have fit in that one, this bed I love it's ultra comfy!

I really liked this bed but I read alot of bad reviews so it made me sceptical. Once I bought it and we put it together, my son(23months) had never been more excited about his new bed. We needed to get him a new bed because we have a new baby coming in January 2005 and we needed to get him out of the crib. He has adjusted really well to his bed and sleeps all night long in his own room! We did need to buy a bunkie board which was about 19.99 but his mattress sits right in it with no gaps on the sides. I love this bed its adorable, I definitly recommend this bed for new toddlers!

I was reading the reviews on this bed, even though my son has been sleeping in this bed for over a year. I wanted to make some comments on the complaints everyone was making. First, the mattress support that you should be buying for this bed should be a piece of plywood. Not crib springs. I got my sons bed as a hand me down and it came with the plywood. Its the best thing for the bed. I put a flat sheet on top so that my son cannot touch the wood and get splinters. As for the space around the mattress, try stuffing a blanket or towels and as for the lack of a safety rail for kids who like to toss and turn, buy one at the store. I got one from Walmart for about $15.00 and used it maybe for a month before my son got used to sleeping in the bed and stopped falling out. Its a great bed and my son loves it. I needed to replace some hubcaps and little tykes sent them out immediately at a very inexpensive price. This bed will get many years of use!

5.0 out of 5 stars The best little bed around, November 20, 2000

My 22 month old daughter finally fell out of her crib and hurt herself. I didn't want to get her a bed until her 2nd Birthday, but we got it early. It only took my husband 30 minutes to put it together, we used the spring from her crib under her crib mattress, works perfectly. My daughter loves to spend time in her racecar bed. Talks about it all day long. She's rolled out of it once, but we make sure she rolls onto some comforters until she gets used to the bed. She watches all the NASCAR races with my husband and totally relates her bed to the races. I totally recommend this bed to any child over the age of 22 months. Very durable and a good price. I love Little Tikes brand stuff. A+++++
