This review is from: Little Tikes Sizzle N Serve Kitchen (Toy)
"Son, go make me a hamburger with ketchup please." Son runs to toy kitchen, fires up the grill, puts burger on the grill, flips it, puts burger on bun, adds imaginary ketchup, and takes burger to dad. Mmmmmm! Best imaginary burger I've had in years.
My son enjoys every aspect of this kitchen from the phone to the coffee maker to the very realistic grill (For a toy grill!).
This was a great purchase, and yes, it was the grill that sold me on this particular kitchen over all the others. My son has always enjoyed helping dad on the real grill, and now he has one of his own.
The ice maker could be better. It's difficult to load for my son, and sometimes difficult to dispense ice. It has to be loaded just right, but it works.
The doors aren't the best fitting, but plastic on plastic typically isn't anyway.
Assembly took about 30 minutes with my wife putting on most of the stickers besides the long one on top.
Assembly requires a drill simply to screw the many screws into the plastic. It wasn't difficult, but required two people at times to hold the kitchen still while the screw was being held in one hand and the drill in the other to get it started.
Works as described, and I'll probably buy an extra set of fake foods in the future. Plenty of storage under the grill and on the kitchen itself.
The cook top makes some good sounds, along with the grill. The flames on the grill are well done with a blower and red LED's. It would be nice if the kitchen faucet actually moved, but it doesn't. Costs had to be cut somewhere, and the makers/designers were pretty good about keeping the important stuff.
Overall, a solid 4 1/2 since it's plastic, the faucet doesn't actually move, and neither the dish washer nor oven have a rack.
I wouldn't mind at all if my son grew up to be a chef. At the very least he'll have an appreciation for the kitchen and cooking won't be a sissy thing to do. After all, he knows dad makes a great shrimp gumbo. :-)
Great purchase.
